About CITA News
CITA News is an independent, multilingual news publication covering Gran Canaria and the Canary Islands for residents, expats and visitors. Founded in 2026, CITA News is published and edited by Matthias Camenzind, who serves as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.
The editorial office is based in Reykjavík, Iceland.
We publish in four languages — German, English, Spanish and Italian — because the Canary Islands are home to one of Europe's most international communities. Our readers include long-term residents, seasonal visitors, digital nomads and tourists planning their trips.
The publication is funded through advertising and commercial partnerships. These arrangements do not influence editorial decisions, which are made independently by the editorial team.

Why We Exist
The Canary Islands are covered extensively in Spanish-language media but underserved in other languages. Expats and international visitors often rely on fragmented social media posts, outdated travel blogs or machine-translated articles. CITA News fills this gap with original, verified reporting in four languages, published on the same day as events unfold.
