Easter 2026: March 29 (Palm Sunday) — April 5 (Easter Monday)

Canaries forecast: 15–25°C, mostly sunny, minimal rain

Mainland north: 8–13°C, rain, some snow

After six days of Storm Therese with historic rainfall, the good news: Aemet forecasts stable weather for the Canary Islands during Easter. While Burgos, Segovia and Vitoria struggle to reach 8°C on Palm Sunday and the north faces rain and snow, the Canaries can expect sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

What Aemet says

The agency forecasts mostly clear or lightly clouded skies for the Canary Islands from 29 March to 5 April. Light showers are possible in the medianias (mid-altitude areas), but in the south — Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles, Meloneras — barely any rain is expected. Daytime temperatures range from 20 to 25°C, around 15°C at night. Northerly wind, occasionally gusty.

Maspalomas/Playa del Ingles: 22–25°C, sunny

Las Palmas: 20–23°C, some clouds possible

Cumbre/Tejeda: 15–18°C, isolated showers

Sunset: ~8:00 PM (after clock change)

Contrast with the mainland

The difference could hardly be bigger. On Palm Sunday, Soria expects a maximum of 8°C, Teruel faces overnight frost at minus 2°C. The Basque Country, Galicia and Cantabria are bracing for continuous rain. Only Andalusia and the Canaries remain dry — with the Canaries holding the temperature advantage.

What this means for tourists

Easter is traditionally one of the strongest travel weeks for the Canary Islands. With demand already elevated by the Iran effect and the weather advantage, southern Gran Canaria is likely to be fully booked this week. Spontaneous bookers: it's late, but last-minute deals for holiday apartments are still available in places.
