From 17 June 2026, Binter will fly twice a week directly from Gran Canaria to La Rioja. It's the first regular air link between the archipelago and the Spanish wine region.

Tickets are already on sale. The aircraft is the Embraer E195-E2 with 132 seats.

The timetable

Two fixed days a week: Wednesday and Sunday.

  • Wednesday: Gran Canaria 08:15 → Logroño. Return from Logroño 12:55
  • Sunday: Gran Canaria 08:35 → Logroño. Return from Logroño 14:00

The route runs from mid-June to the end of September 2026. Binter has said nothing yet about winter.

For the other islands: connecting flight included

If you don't live on Gran Canaria, you still get there. Under the Binter network, the feeder flight from Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera or El Hierro is built into the same ticket — no extra fare.

Binter runs around 220 inter-island flights a day. Bags are checked through to Logroño.

How the route came about

The line stems from a public tender by the Government of La Rioja. In March 2026, Binter won the contract through its subsidiary Gestión Aeronáutica Integral Canaria S.L. The award report is dated 26 March.

Binter offered more than required:

  • 31 frequencies per season, against a minimum of 26
  • 62 single journeys in total
  • 8,184 seats between June and September
  • 1,424 seats above the tender minimum

The contract also includes a sponsorship element. Binter provides advertising space to boost the La Rioja tourism brand in the Canary Islands market.

What La Rioja offers

For Canary travellers, La Rioja is fresh ground in the scheduled network. The region is known for:

  • Wine under the Rioja Denominación de Origen Calificada
  • Gastronomy and wine tourism
  • Sections of the Camino de Santiago
  • Historic towns like Haro and San Millán de la Cogolla

Second new northern route in quick succession

La Rioja isn't the only new mainland destination. Binter has also confirmed a link to Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country. The airline has been building out its mainland Spain network for years, and the pace is picking up.
