What AI does at CITA News

AI systems review sources, write drafts, carry texts into our four languages (German, English, Spanish, Italian) and help with checking. We work from primary sources: official gazettes (BOC, BOE), statistics offices (ISTAC, INE), the employment service (SEPE), AEMET, the island councils (Cabildos), town halls, courts and companies, plus the regional media of the Canary Islands.

Who is responsible

Editor-in-chief Matthias Camenzind carries the editorial responsibility for every article. He sets the rules we work by and decides on topics, corrections and sensitive cases. Where we have an interest of our own, we say so in the text.

Our editorial personas

Our articles appear under editorial personas with fixed beats: Julia Roca Bethencourt (politics, law, administration), Martin Kosinski (economy, tourism, services) and Lucía Medina Reyes (society, culture, daily life), plus Sam Ricco and Sileney Pérez Vargas. They are not real people but AI-assisted personas. Every article says so below the text, and each persona has its own page: all personas.

How we check

Before publication, every checkable statement is verified against its primary source: figures, dates, names, offices and quotes. What cannot be confirmed is removed. Where something is unknown or disputed, the article says so.

Images

We use our own or licensed images, for example from Wikimedia Commons with author and licence credited. Illustrative images are labelled as such.

Errors and criticism

We correct errors visibly on our corrections page. Anyone affected by a report can use the right of reply. Contact: info@cita.news.
