What we correct
All factual errors. Wrong figures, wrong names, wrong dates, misattributed quotes, wrong job titles, faulty captions.
What we do not correct
Typos with no factual consequence we correct silently. Editorial judgements are not errors but choices. New information is processed in an updated article, not as a correction to an earlier version.
How we correct
Every factual correction appears at the end of the affected article in a dedicated block with date, original wording and rectification. This overview page lists all corrections chronologically.
Reporting corrections
Anyone who notices a factual error can report it to info@cita.news. We process tips within 48 hours.
External complaints body
Readers who disagree with our response can contact the Swiss Press Council. It is the recognised independent complaints body for German-language media; we apply its standards across all four CITA News languages.

28 September 2026
Original: After the correction of 27 September the article gave neither a venue nor a time for Tenerife, because no venue had published a date.
Corrected: The festival itself now states “18 OCT – Espacio La Granja – 18:00 h” on masdanza.com/portfolio/md-tenerife, with four competition pieces (“Soft Animals”, “Even Absence Casts No Shadow”, “Muga”, “Ferne Nähe”); the page was last modified on 14 September 2026. The date is therefore back in the article, with 18:00 and the plain statement that the Espacio La Granja's own October programme still does not list it: no mention of MASDANZA, no 18 October, but 16 October and then 21 October. Also clarified: two of the three times removed on 27 September, 19:00 and 21:00, came from masdanza.com/masdanza-tenerife, a page headed “PROGRAMA EXTENSIÓN TENERIFE 2024” and last modified on 1 October 2024, and referred to the Teatro Victoria and the 2024 festival. Sources: MASDANZA and Espacio La Granja, checked 28 September 2026.

27 September 2026
Original: The headline and the first section gave two or three euros of tax on a €200,000 inheritance from father to son, and “under €100” on €5 million. The Gran Canaria expat and nomad guide also described the relief as a “99.9% relief for direct heirs — virtually zero”.
Corrected: Both figures were too low, because the relief had been applied to the wrong base. Article 24 ter of Decreto Legislativo 1/2009, as worded by Decreto-ley 5/2023 of 4 September 2023, relieves 99.9% of the cuota tributaria — the calculated tax — and not of the inheritance; it applies to groups I to III, not only to direct heirs. With the Canary kinship reduction of €23,125 for a child (article 20 b, as worded by Ley 4/2012), which replaces the state reduction of €15,956.87, the state scale in article 21.2 of Ley 29/1987 and the 1.0000 multiplier in article 22.2, €200,000 leaves about €27 of tax (€26.73) and €5 million about €1,620 (€1,620.26). If the home was the deceased's habitual residence, is located in the Canaries and is kept for five years, article 22 ter brings the tax down to nothing; if the heir's own wealth exceeded €4,020,770.98 it rises to €32.07. The steps are now in the article. They are this newsroom's own calculation from the named texts, not an official worked example: the Agencia Tributaria Canaria publishes neither an online calculator nor a specimen calculation for this tax, and its own Modelo 660 manual still prints the pre-July-2012 reduction figures. 27 September 2026
Original: The article gave surcharges of 5 to 20 per cent for a late inheritance tax return, and described the next generation moving up after a disclaimer as the right of representation.
Corrected: Under article 27.2 of Law 58/2003 the surcharge is 1 per cent plus 1 per cent for each full month of delay, and 15 per cent plus late-payment interest after twelve months; the 5 to 20 per cent scale has not applied since July 2021. Under article 923 of the Código Civil the relatives of the next degree inherit in their own right and expressly do not represent the person who disclaimed. 27 September 2026
Original: The article described the symphonic closing concert on Sunday 18 October as asking only for a symbolic donation.
Corrected: The night is ticketed: the organisers list it in their programme as an «Entrada solidaria», Canarias7 described it on 7 August 2026 as «con entrada», and the ticketing platform Entradas Canarias gives a minimum price of 20.60 euros for 18 October on the Plaza de Santa Ana. The free entry on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October stands, and for the Sunday start time the text now gives both times on record, 19:30 and 20:00. Source: organisers' programme (festivalsonora.com), Canarias7 and Entradas Canarias, checked 27 September 2026.

27 September 2026
Original: The article named the Espacio La Granja on Tenerife as the venue for four competition pieces on 18 October, among them «Soft Animals» and «Muga», together with three different times and a price of 16.07 euros for the winners' gala on 17 October.
Corrected: The Espacio La Granja's own October programme contains no MASDANZA date and no 18 October date at all, and Canarias7 and Maspalomas Ahora reported on 22 September 2026 only that the festival will also reach Tenerife that day, without a venue; the venue, the three conflicting times (21:00, 19:00 and 18:00) and the price for 17 October, for which the Teatro Pérez Galdós publishes none, have been removed. Added is the single price of 10 euros with no concessions that the Teatro Cuyás lists for the closing gala on 24 October at 19:30. Sources: Espacio La Granja and Teatro Cuyás, checked 27 September 2026.

26 September 2026
Original: The article gave the Canary Islands figures in the INE house price index (Índice de Precios de Vivienda, IPV) for the second quarter of 2026 as up 12.9 percent for second-hand homes and up 7.4 percent for new-build. Those are the figures for Spain as a whole. It also stated that this was «the 45th consecutive quarter of increases».
Corrected: For the Canary Islands the same index shows new-build up 11.9 percent and second-hand up 11.0 percent, with the overall index up 11.0 percent. The text now gives both levels and labels each correctly; the claim about the 45th consecutive quarter has been removed, because it cannot be supported from the INE series. Source: INE series IPV1536, IPV1541 and IPV1546 (INE).

25 September 2026
Original: The wording on wildfire risk was too broad: it read as though the alert applied to the whole of Gran Canaria. The pre-alert on La Gomera and the archipelago-wide pre-alert for maximum temperatures were missing.
Corrected: The alert applies on Gran Canaria only above the 400-metre contour, La Gomera is on pre-alert, and a pre-alert for maximum temperatures has covered the whole archipelago since 23 September at 11:00. Also added were the two outdoor-burning prohibition regimes of the Cabildos of Tenerife (Grado 1) and Gran Canaria (INFOGRAN), and the road closures for the 45th Rallye Villa de Teror on Friday and Saturday.
-
24 September 2026
Original: The article said the concert was not yet sold out on 23 September and that nobody had announced a sell-out.
Corrected: The Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria had already stated in its release of 23 September 2026 that the closing concert was at «lleno absoluto», with ten tickets left on sale; on 24 September the ticket seller entradascanarias.com listed the date as sold out. The passages on ticket availability have been changed.

23 September 2026
Original: The article set out two possibilities: the extract published on Wednesday 23 September, with the deadline on Thursday 22 October, or on Friday 25 September, with the deadline on Monday 26 October.
Corrected: The first possibility has fallen away: BOP Santa Cruz de Tenerife no. 114 of 23 September does not contain the extract, and the issue was checked in full. As of 23 September the call was therefore unpublished. That leaves the Friday 25 September case, with the deadline on Monday 26 October 2026, or Tuesday 27 October for applicants from San Miguel de Abona, Arona, El Tanque, Santa Úrsula and Buenavista del Norte (Art. 30.6 Ley 39/2015). Added: the BDNS record gives the period only as «20 días siguientes a la publicación», dropping the word hábiles, while the Cabildo's own rules (base 15.3) and the extract say «veinte (20) días hábiles».

23 September 2026
Original: On 16 September the article reported that the decree had been approved but not published in the Boletín Oficial de Canarias, and was therefore not in force.
Corrected: That is out of date: the decree appeared on 22 September 2026 as Decreto 145/2026, de 15 de septiembre, in BOC no. 190 under item 3297, and enters into force twenty days later, on 12 October 2026 (disposición final segunda). Under the disposición final primera it applies from 2026 in criminal matters, from 2027 in the civil courts and from 2028 in the remaining courts, so from 12 October the right is real only in criminal proceedings. Also added: the register of facilitators does not exist yet, and until it does the transitional provision draws names from lists supplied by professional bodies and by disability and older-people's organisations, island by island and with preference for the relevant island's list; the fees set by article 10 (90 euros, exceptionally 120, and 50 per accompaniment, IGIC included); and the qualification routes in article 4, among them at least 200 hours of training.
-
23 September 2026
Original: The article said that a full schedule with per-stage times had not been published for all the festival days.
Corrected: The festival's official programme page now lists the four street-parade evenings hour by hour; those times and the complete line-up for Friday 25 September have been added. Also new is the note that the 22:30 stage on the Muelle de Cruceros is restricted to people aged 18 and over under the Canary Islands' rules for public events, while the other three stages have no age limit, along with the list of items banned on the cruise pier.

21 September 2026
Original: The article described Law 6/2025 as a law to streamline urban-planning permits, passed on 23 July 2026, and reported that all 88 municipalities had approved their control plans on time.
Corrected: Law 6/2025 is the law on the sustainable regulation of the tourist use of dwellings, dated 10 December 2025 (BOE no. 308, 23 December 2025). The figure for the 88 municipalities comes from the Canary regional government and is now attributed to it: the municipality of Haría (Lanzarote) states in its own decree that it approved its plan only on 14 September 2026, after the 13 August deadline (Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Las Palmas no. 112, 18 September 2026).

14 September 2026
Original: The article gave a filing window of 1 to 15 April for rental income and presented the annual activity report to the land registry as a live obligation.
Corrected: 1 to 15 April is the deadline when paying by direct debit; the general deadline is the first twenty calendar days of April. And the Supreme Court declared the legal basis of the annual activity report, article 10 of Real Decreto 1312/2024, void in May and June 2026. Both passages have been corrected.

Originally: An earlier version reported the MV Hondius would leave Granadilla for Rotterdam today, Sunday, 10 May, before 7 p.m.
Corrected: The Hondius remains in Granadilla on Sunday for resupply and maintenance. Departure for Rotterdam is now planned for Monday, 11 May, before 7 p.m.; the crossing takes around five days. Original: The article referred to the Canary quality agency as «Acceguí»; the earlier headline wording could also be read ambiguously as nine years rather than nine months.

Original: «Estatuto del Colegio de Administradores: handover deadlines 10 / 45 days».
Corrected: The 10-day deadline for ongoing documents derives from Art. 20.1 Ley de Propiedad Horizontal (LPH), not from any «Estatuto del Colegio». The 45-day deadline comes from the professional practice of the Colegio de Administradores de Fincas. Source: Ley 49/1960 (LPH), Art. 20 (BOE).

Original: «William 22.3 % / Sonia Naranjo 9.9 %» (vote-share coefficients in the presidential vote).
Corrected: The shares 22.319 % and 9.896 % come from the borrador (draft minutes) of 7 March 2026. These draft figures are subject to the running acta-challenge deadline under Art. 18 LPH. Authoritative is not the borrador, but the version approved by board and owners. Source: Ley 49/1960 (LPH), Art. 18 (BOE).

Eugenia Talavera Plata: profile of the CC-CITA administrator — Article in German.

Corrected: (a) «The offering corresponds typically to that of a small general firm.» (b) «In the CENDOJ database, 31 decisions involving the firm between 2018 and 2025 are documented. A direct comparison with other firms was not carried out.» (c) «A NIF revocation by Hacienda may have several reasons, including outstanding tax filings or formal deficiencies.» Source: CENDOJ — Centro de Documentación Judicial (Poder Judicial).

Original: «After 54 written questions came ‹Ok perfecto› — and then silence.»
Corrected: No substantive answer followed the 54-point questionnaire of 31 March 2026. Eugenia's response «Ok perfecto» referred to the separate transition plan of 8 March 2026, not to the 54-point questionnaire. This attribution is documented in the article «Ok perfecto: CC CITA, the transition plan and the silence».
