4–8 June: Fete Island 2026 — Caribbean Party Festival at the Yumbo

Fete Island returns in 2026 from 4 to 8 June at the Yumbo Centrum in Playa del Inglés. The festival blends pool parties, boat trips and beach events into a Caribbean-themed experience — five days, an international crowd, multiple venues in and around the Yumbo Centrum. The event is ticketed, with individual events available to book separately. For anyone who knows the Yumbo, Fete Island is one of the few events that shows it at full energy — outside of Pride weeks.

11–14 June: Musicmeetstourism 2026 — Where Music Meets the Tourism Industry

From 11 to 14 June, the Musicmeetstourism conference takes place at the Yumbo Centrum in Playa del Inglés — a format that brings together live music, the tourism sector and a congress structure under one roof. Panels, networking evenings and live performances side by side. Some events are free to attend; others require tickets. The event is aimed equally at music professionals, tourism industry players and general audiences — turning the Yumbo into the island's most unusual conference centre for four days.

20–21 June: Feria KM.0 Gran Canaria — Arucas

On 20 and 21 June, the Feria KM.0 Gran Canaria opens at the Parque de las Flores in Arucas — daily from 09:00 to 14:00, free entry. The KM.0 market is a showcase for local producers: artisan foods, wines, cheeses, honey and regional specialities from across the island. Arucas sits in the north of Gran Canaria, around 15 kilometres from Las Palmas — known for its rum distillery and impressive cathedral. Combining a visit to the market with a stroll through town works well.

23/24 June: Noche de San Juan — The Most Important Night of Summer

The Noche de San Juan, on the night of 23 into 24 June, is Gran Canaria's biggest midsummer festival — and one of the most significant nights of the year on the island. At Playa de Las Canteras in Las Palmas and at the beach in Playa del Inglés (Maspalomas), thousands gather for bonfires, midnight fireworks and the traditional night swim. The custom: jump over the waves three times to shed bad influences and start the new season with fresh energy. Picnics, singing, dancing — the beaches transform into vast open-air celebrations.

The festivities begin on the evening of 23 June and peak at midnight. The fireworks over Las Canteras are among the finest on the island. If it is your first time on Gran Canaria, do not miss this night — entry is free, but arriving early to secure a good spot on the beach is worth it. Public transport runs into the early hours.

Noche de San Juan 2026

Date: Evening of 23 June through midnight 24 June

Main beaches: Las Canteras (Las Palmas), Playa del Inglés (Maspalomas)

Highlights: Bonfires, midnight fireworks, night swim, picnics

23 June: Las Palmas City Founding Anniversary

On the same day, 23 June 2026, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria celebrates its city founding anniversary. The capital commemorates its establishment by Spanish conquistadors in 1478 with free open-air concerts and cultural events across the city centre. A double programme for 23 June: city celebrations during the day, San Juan on the beach at night. Anyone wanting to experience both should plan to stay overnight in Las Palmas.

Opera at Teatro Pérez Galdós — Last Chance

The opera season at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in Las Palmas runs until 20 June 2026. If you have not yet caught a performance this season, the first three weeks of June are your last opportunity. The Teatro Pérez Galdós is one of the oldest and most beautiful opera houses in Spain — the building alone is worth the visit. Current schedules and tickets are available on the theatre's official website.

Weekly Markets

The regular weekly markets continue as usual: Fridays, the Mercadillo Puerto de Mogán (09:00–14:00) — one of the most attractive markets on the island, right by the small harbour of the so-called Little Venice. Sundays, the Mercadillo at Parque de Santa Catalina in Las Palmas. Organic and artisan markets also run regularly across various neighbourhoods. In June, the weather makes early morning market visits particularly pleasant: cool air, no rain, ideal temperatures.

Summer Tips: The First Full Month of the Season

June is the first full month of European summer season on Gran Canaria. The beaches — Las Canteras, Playa del Inglés, Amadores, Maspalomas — fill up. The UV index reaches its seasonal peak: SPF 50+ sunscreen is essential, especially between 11:00 and 16:00. Before 09:00, the beaches are still pleasantly quiet — ideal for walks or an early swim. For hikers, the ascent of Roque Nublo (1,817 m) in summer is best done very early in the morning or in the late afternoon — midday heat is significant. Current UV levels and air quality are available on our beaches & UV page. Weather forecasts are on our weather page.
