The numbers are impressive: 918,818 German tourists visited Gran Canaria in 2025. Average stays exceed 10.6 days. Spending on accommodation alone topped 770 million euros, with a slight year-on-year increase.

Gran Canaria is directly connected to 19 German airports. For summer 2026, 169,155 confirmed seats from Germany are planned between May and July, a 2.8% increase on 2025. New additions include Coredon flying from Nuremberg, Hanover and Cologne; Sundair adds connections from Bremen and Dresden.

Gran Canaria is diversifying simultaneously. The British market has crossed the one-million threshold for the first time (1,072,132 visitors). The French segment grew by 43% in December, Eastern European markets by 9%. The island is spreading its risk — a smart move.

The German market is not only Gran Canaria's second largest after the British market, it is the most profitable. Tourism Councillor Carlos Alamo states that German visitors generate 20% of the island's total tourism revenue.

The trend shows cracks, however. Winter 2025/26 has seen a slight contraction. Analysts link this to economic uncertainty in Germany under the new Merz government: German tourists are saving cautiously.

Early bookings for summer 2026 are up 14%, a hopeful signal. Gran Canaria expects a strong season, provided the geopolitical situation does not deteriorate further.
