Who we are
CITA News is a digital news magazine based in Iceland, reporting in four languages on the Canary Islands. We publish in German, English, Spanish and Italian.
Source hierarchy
- Primary sources: Original documents (legal texts, BOE publications, official notices, court rulings, official statistics, minutes, contracts), direct on-site observation, our own interviews with named actors.
- Reliable secondary sources: Other quality outlets (Canarias7, La Provincia, Diario de Avisos, El País, EFE, Reuters), universities and research institutes, recognised specialist publications.
- Tertiary sources: Aggregators, social media, anonymous tips. Used only as a starting point for our own research, never as the sole evidentiary source.
Verification
Every factual claim in a published article must be backed by at least one primary or reliable secondary source. For contested claims we require two independent sources. Anonymous sources are accepted only when the person is known to the editor and a verifiable protection ground exists.
Identifying private individuals
We name private individuals only when their role in a matter is of public interest and no proportionately milder reporting option exists. When in doubt, we describe people by function rather than by name.
Images and captions
Captions name image source and date. We do not use images whose licence or origin we cannot verify. Symbolic images are flagged in the caption.
AI usage
CITA News is an AI-assisted newsroom: articles are produced with AI systems and published under clearly labelled editorial personas. Every published article is checked before publication under the responsibility of editor-in-chief Matthias Camenzind. Details: How we use AI.
Independence
CITA News is editorially independent. Advertising is separated from editorial content. Conflicts of interest are disclosed in the article.
Complaints and feedback
