What does Saturday mean for holidaymakers in the south?
The book fair takes place in Puerto del Rosario, not in the holiday resorts in the south of Fuerteventura. According to the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, anyone travelling from Costa Calma, Jandía or Corralejo does not need a ticket for the site on the Plaza del Palacio de Formación y Congresos.
The evening events with the three nationally known authors begin at 19:00, 20:00 and 20:30. That leaves enough time to travel to the island capital even after a day at the beach.
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura gives no details in its announcement about parking, bus connections or traffic changes. Anyone arriving by hire car should therefore allow extra time to find parking around the venue.
Which authors are reading in the evening?
At 19:00 Patricio Pron presents the novel «En todo hay una grieta y por ella entra la luz», published by Anagrama. The writer talks with the author José Ignacio Carnero about grief, violence, the ecological crisis and the role of art.
At 20:00 Jesús Carrasco presents «El detalle», published by Seix Barral. In conversation with the journalist Ángeles Jurado, the focus is on couple relationships, time and care in everyday life.
At 20:30 Ángeles González-Sinde, writer, screenwriter and film director, presents «Una noche de 1947», published by Lumen.
What is there for families during the day?
At 10:00 the baby storytelling session «Al agua» for children aged 0 to 36 months begins. It takes place in the Sala Infantil y Juvenil of the Centro Bibliotecario Insular and is repeated at 12:00.
Places are limited. According to the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, prior registration is required.
At 11:00 the Compañía La Tendía presents the family show «La isla de las cosas perdidas» in the Sala Chillida. At 12:00 the majorera company Mas Dance performs on the Plaza del Palacio de Formación y Congresos.
Which events are free and which require a reservation?
The theatre performance «Coser y Contar» by Irene Maquieira is free of charge, according to the Cabildo de Fuerteventura. It runs at 19:00 in the Sala Chillida and a reservation is required.
«El invencible verano de Liliana» at 21:30 in the Sala Sinfónica of the Palacio de Formación y Congresos is also free.
For the book presentations in the Carpa Josefina Plá, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura gives no admission prices or reservation requirements. The official announcement contains no information about possible fees.
What is still unclear for Saturday?
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura publishes no prices, deadlines or special rules for general fair attendance in its announcement. The full daily programme with all Canarian authors is also not listed in full in the central notice.
Also unpublished are details of public transport, parking, possible road closures or shuttle buses. Visitors should check for last-minute changes via the official channels of the Cabildo.
What happens after Saturday?
The 36th Feria Insular del Libro de Fuerteventura ends on Sunday, 18 October 2026. Saturday is therefore the last full fair night with an evening programme.
The fair is held under the motto «Leer abre fronteras». It is organised by the Centro Bibliotecario Insular, which is under the authority of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura.
According to the Cabildo, the 2026 edition includes more than twenty authors, among them Carlos Bardem, Elena Medel, Jorge Volpi, Lorenzo Silva and Cecilia Domínguez Luis.
