What changes for holidaymakers and residents in the south?
The real question is simple: which events are public, which need a ticket, and which are for delegates only. WOMEX says foreign visitors follow the same access rules as Spanish visitors.
Anyone travelling up from the resorts in the south will find every venue in one place. That means the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, the Sala Gabriel Rodó, the Plaza Jerónimo Saavedra and the Plaza del Espigón.
All of them sit in the north of the island in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, close to Las Canteras beach. WOMEX recommends the official app for personalised schedules, and all times are local time in Las Palmas.
Which programme items are open to the public?
Part of the music and film programme is open to everyone, while the trade fair, conferences and some events stay reserved for registered delegates. The city council first announced 40 concerts on five stages.
On top of the 53 showcase concerts, nine more are planned for the offWOMEX/Plaza Stage. The two figures simply refer to different programme versions or categories.
The official WOMEX showcase stages are the Daycase Stage, Theatre Stage, Borondón Stage, Plaza Stage and Atlantic Connections Stage. The Club Summit is also public, and day tickets for Friday and Saturday include entry.
Public film screenings start at 20:00 in the Sala de Cámara of the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus. The general public can go in once the professional activity on the site ends.
How much does entry cost?
A full WOMEX delegate registration covers all five days, and there are no single-day tickets for delegates. Entry to the trade fair, conferences, films and the opening and closing ceremonies is generally reserved for registered delegates.
For the public, only a limited number of tickets are available for the night-time showcase festival and film screenings. Prices and sales conditions must be checked on the official festival platform.
A Canarian events listing names a three-day pass for 85 euros, with day tickets at 25 euros on Thursday and 30 euros on Friday and Saturday. Those details do not come from the official WOMEX programme overview, so confirm them before you buy.
Children under 12 can attend free of charge. Young people over 12 and under 18 can apply for the student rate if they send the relevant proof to WOMEX.
What happens at the opening?
Ale Acosta, Julia Rodríguez, Marta Bolaños and Alba Carmona and Jesús Guerrero are due to perform. The opening is one of the programme items generally reserved for registered delegates.
What is still open?
The detailed daily times and the final availability of public tickets will be published or updated on the official WOMEX programme page and in the WOMEX app. The Canarias Fiestas report confirms the announcement of free, publicly accessible programme items.
What is missing, however, is a complete list, individual local times or a reliable price overview. The administrative agreement, the public budget and the cost distribution between the institutions have also not yet been published.
