When is the best time to visit Lanzarote?

The official AEMET standard values for the Lanzarote Aeropuerto station are based on the period 1981–2010. They are climate averages and not a forecast for individual travel days.

June to September are the driest and warmest months according to these standard values.

May to August also have the highest monthly sunshine totals. July reaches 308 hours of sunshine, August 295.

Climatologically, May to September are therefore considered a particularly weather-stable time to travel. For milder temperatures, the winter months are suitable, although they have somewhat more precipitation.

According to AEMET, December records 29 mm of precipitation and January 16 mm. Current values and warnings: CITA weather (cita.news/de/wetter.html) and AEMET.

What alternatives are there to a direct flight?

Ferries connect Lanzarote with La Graciosa and other Canary Islands. Playa Blanca is linked to Corralejo on Fuerteventura by frequent ferry services.

This option is suitable for combining islands, taking more luggage or avoiding a second flight. Domestic flights via Gran Canaria, Tenerife North and Madrid are the main alternatives when no direct international connection is available.

For 2025, the official airport data according to Aena confirm exceptionally high demand with 8.92 million passengers. These data do not set a standard flight price.

For budget planning, it is worth comparing three options: a direct flight to Lanzarote, a connection via Gran Canaria, Tenerife or Madrid, and a flight to Fuerteventura followed by the Playa Blanca–Corralejo ferry.

The cheapest advertised flight is not necessarily the cheapest complete trip once luggage, transfers, car hire and ferry costs are included.
