Which dates are already confirmed?
Playa Blanca Carnival 2027 begins on Thursday 4 March and ends on Sunday 7 March. The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza confirms this on its official website.
The highlight is planned for Saturday 6 March in the afternoon and evening. People in costume, floats and music and dance groups will then parade through Playa Blanca.
Playa Blanca is in the municipality of Yaiza in the south of Lanzarote. The council describes the event as a festividad for residents and visitors.
What does the theme “Ritmos latinos” mean?
The theme of the 2027 carnival is “Ritmos latinos”, meaning Latin American rhythms. The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza has officially confirmed this alegoría.
Costumes, stage designs and carnival groups can take their inspiration from Latin American rhythms. The theme gives participants a creative direction for their performances.
Yaiza’s councillor for fiestas, Daniel Medina, is inviting people to take part. According to the council, he says: “Vecinos, vecinas y visitantes hacen sus previsiones de vacaciones o días libres y preparan con tiempo sus disfraces.”
How does the poster competition work?
Yaiza council has opened a competition to choose the official promotional poster. The entry conditions, known in Spanish as “bases”, are published on the website www.yaiza.es.
Creators over 16 (mayores de 16 años) may enter. The submission deadline is Monday 11 January 2027, as announced by the Ayuntamiento de Yaiza.
A single prize of 1,200 euros is planned for the winning design. The technique of the submitted work is open, as long as it can be printed without difficulty and reproduced in a format of no more than 65 by 48 centimetres.
The Ayuntamiento recommends reading the full competition conditions before entering. No date for the jury decision is given in the available information.
What matters for visitors and residents?
For residents, foreign nationals living in Yaiza and visitors, nothing currently changes in terms of prices, fees or entry requirements. The Ayuntamiento de Yaiza has announced neither an admission charge nor a registration requirement.
Visitors can note the period from 4 to 7 March 2027 in their diaries. Specific information on road closures, parking, public transport and possible restrictions for residents is still pending.
Councillor Daniel Medina is urging people to visit Playa Blanca for the carnival. According to the council, he says: “Los esperamos a todas y todos que nuestro carnaval siempre depara sorpresas y es garantía de pasarlo muy bien.”
What is still open?
The full event programme has not yet been published. Details are missing on times, concerts, the exact parade route, further carnival shows and possible traffic arrangements.
The council has also not yet given a specific publication date for the programme. Next, Yaiza must announce the competition deadline and then the full carnival programme.
In previous years, Yaiza council has held a multi-day carnival with music, dancing, parades and public shows. For 2027, only the dates, the theme, the Saturday parade and the poster competition have been confirmed so far.
