Where is the nightlife in Puerto del Carmen?
According to Turismo Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen's nightlife has two focal points. The first is the Avenida de las Playas, the town's main tourist thoroughfare with bars, pubs, restaurants, terraces and other leisure options.
The second focal point is the Varadero. There, visitors will find a quieter, more Spanish atmosphere with dining and evening leisure.
The official tourism website does not give a specific street number or a single entrance for the nightlife. The nightlife area stretches along the beach promenade and the harbour area.
Which bars, clubs and shows are on the Avenida de las Playas?
Turismo Lanzarote lists Crazy Mini Golf & Music Hall Tavern in the Centro Comercial La Peñita on the Avenida de las Playas among the officially listed leisure options in Puerto del Carmen. This also includes the MHT Comedy Drag Show, whose venue the official portal confirms as La Peñita.
Turismo Lanzarote also lists Rooftop Biosfera as another option. The Gran Casino de Lanzarote is named in the official Lanzarote travel guide as a casino option in Puerto del Carmen.
The official tourism portal describes the offering in general as a mix of live music, pubs, cocktail and chill-out areas, clubs and discos. Not every listed leisure option is a classic nightclub.
How much does a night out in Puerto del Carmen cost?
For 2026, the official tourism websites do not publish a uniform price list for bars or clubs. Prices change according to season, event and venue, as Turismo Lanzarote reports.
According to published travel information, the following applies as a guide: venues away from the main promenade are usually cheaper than beach clubs, hotel bars and event nights. Club admission is often event-dependent; some venues advertise free entry or drinks specials, while others charge admission.
When is the best time for a night out?
The official sources do not provide uniform opening hours for the entire nightlife area. The details must therefore be checked directly for each individual venue.
Many clubs do not open until around 22:00 to 23:00; the main atmosphere often builds after midnight. The old harbour of Varadero, by contrast, is better suited to an early evening with Spanish cuisine, tapas and live music.
For special events such as the MHT Comedy Drag Show, the official portal does not publish reliable general show times or prices in the information available.
What rules apply to nightlife in Puerto del Carmen?
Event and nightlife venues in the Canary Islands are subject to Law 4/2011 on classified activities and public events. Inspections check, among other things, licences, municipal permits and employment obligations.
Spanish safety law is particularly relevant for visitors: possession or consumption of narcotics can be punished as an administrative offence. In 2025, authorities reported 30 charges for drug possession or consumption in nightlife venues in Puerto del Carmen.
Lanzarote is also a biosphere reserve. Nightlife should therefore not be associated with noise, litter, illegal parking or entering protected coastal areas.
What alternatives are there to a classic club night?
For a quieter evening, the harbour of Varadero is recommended, with Spanish tapas and live music in the old town centre. Beachside lounges or hotel terraces offer cocktails and views.
The official tourism website also lists chill-out areas and stargazing as quieter evening options. Lanzarote is promoted for its clear skies with little light pollution.
On Lanzarote, Playa Blanca offers a more relaxed resort atmosphere and Costa Teguise has bars and restaurants without the strongest concentration of clubs. Compared with the rest of the Canary Islands, Puerto del Carmen is more compact and less intense than Playa de las Américas on Tenerife or Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas on Gran Canaria.
