Garita's Rock 2026 in Telde: six bands, free entry, a square by the sea
A village square a few metres from the Atlantic, amplifiers playing against the surf: this Monday, 7 September 2026, the Plaza de La Garita in Telde (Gran Canaria) hosts the ninth edition of Garita's Rock. Six bands from the Canaries, from Cádiz and from Poland, metal, rock and punk – and, according to La Voz Canaria and the events portal Planomato, with free entry.

One point stays open, and we would rather say so than smooth it over: the sources contradict each other on the start time. The music listings site Rockgle.es, Planomato and La Voz Canaria say 19:00; the programme of the Fiestas de La Garita – reproduced by Telde Actualidad and Radio Maspalomas – says 20:30. If you want to be sure, come early and stay late.
A festival in the neighbourhood, not on a festival site
Garita's Rock takes place where the neighbourhood already gathers: on the Plaza de La Garita, the square of the small coastal district on Telde's eastern shore. No fenced site, no box office, no wristband – the concert is part of the district's fiestas and, according to the announcements available, open to everyone. Date and place are identical across every source: Monday, 7 September 2026, Plaza de La Garita.
A metal, rock and punk night sitting inside the fiesta calendar of a fishing and bathing village is less exotic in the Canaries than it sounds. Between the folklore group, the children's programme and the closing water fight, an evening has established itself where things are simply louder. According to Planomato and La Voz Canaria, the festival is organised by TG Eventos with support from the Ayuntamiento de Telde; reports credit its creation to Tony González, a resident and promoter from the district itself.
The line-up: six bands, three origins
Topping the bill is Guadaña from Cádiz, a heavy metal band which, according to Planomato, will present its work "Regeneración" in La Garita. The international slot goes to Gravity from Poland – the only act of the night travelling from outside Spain.
Four names make up the Canarian block: The Zerolight (Gran Canaria, death metal), TO K2 (Gran Canaria, rock), Rebels (Gran Canaria, rock) and Malagana, described by La Voz Canaria as the exception from the neighbouring island – hardcore punk from Tenerife. Six bands, one square, one evening: a range running from classic heavy metal through death metal to hardcore punk. A running order has not been published in the sources available to us, and we are not going to invent set times.
Nine editions: how an idea became a tradition
Nine editions is a statement for a neighbourhood festival. According to Planomato and La Voz Canaria, Garita's Rock grew out of the district itself and has been carried for around nine years – not a sponsor's product but an evening organised by people from La Garita because they want it to exist. A complete archive of earlier line-ups could not be found in publicly accessible sources; what is documented for 2026 is the ninth edition.
For the alternative scene in the Canaries, dates like this matter more than their size suggests. Islands mean expensive travel, small markets and few stages – so a free festival night that puts local bands next to a guest from Cádiz and one from Poland is genuine infrastructure. Telde, incidentally, has a second and larger rock format: Telde Actualidad reported in 2026 that the Telde Rock Fest had sold more than 1,000 tickets before it even began. That is a separate, ticketed event – but a good indication that rock is no niche phenomenon in this municipality.
The wider picture: the Fiestas de La Garita
The rock night is one building block of a longer programme. According to Telde Actualidad, the Fiestas de La Garita 2026 are held in honour of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús and stretch across several weeks in September. They are run, the same source says, by the neighbourhood association Asociación Vecinal Patronato La Sal of the Playa de La Garita, in cooperation with the Ayuntamiento de Telde.
Before the festival, the same programme lists the pregón with Lazos Musicales and the folklore gathering of the group Anzar (Friday 4 September), the Gariteque night (Saturday 5 September, 21:00) and children's performances on Sunday 6 September from 18:30. Afterwards it continues: on Saturday 19 September a thanksgiving mass at 19:00 and a romería-ofrenda from 20:00 are scheduled, and on Sunday 20 September the closing water battle with DJ Sercy and a paella tasting. In parallel, Telde's coast hosts the municipal summer programme "Súbete a la ola de la vida" with cinema, music and workshops – in La Garita, according to Nublo.tv, including children's workshops on 13 September.
Practicalities: getting there, parking, open questions
La Garita is a coastal district of Telde with its own beach, about two kilometres from the historic town centre and, according to the beach portal verplayas.com, some 15 to 20 kilometres from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – 25 to 30 minutes by car depending on traffic. Coming from the north, the route runs along the GC-1 to exit 7C and then onto the GC-10 towards Marpequeña/La Garita.
Without a car, the same source names Global bus lines 15 and 75 as access to the beach; the 75 links Las Palmas with Telde's coastline. Drivers should know one thing: parking directly at the Playa de La Garita is limited, according to verplayas.com. On a fiesta night with six bands that simply means arriving early, or parking a little further away and walking the last few minutes. What remains unconfirmed is the start time (19:00 or 20:30) and the order of performances.
Taking Global line 75 from Las Palmas saves you the hunt for a parking space; check the return times in advance, because a concert with six bands finishes late.
No running order has been published, and individual local listings spell band names differently (for example "The Zeronaut" instead of "The Zerolight"). Check the channels of the Ayuntamiento de Telde and the organisers shortly before you set off.
