Diesel is cheapest at the same two stations, at €1.555 a litre. The Telde average for Super 95 is €1.520.

Between cheapest and dearest, a single fill differs by up to €8.70. Anyone who must refuel a hire car before returning it can pocket that saving with a short detour.

Of 18 super stations surveyed, 8 held their price, 5 cut it and 5 raised it. The data comes from the platform misgasolineras.es, which analyses daily reports to the ministry.

How does Telde compare with other prices?

At €1.520, Telde sits a good 20 cents below the Spanish average of €1.724 for Super 95. The province of Las Palmas averages €1.526 a litre, says Telde Actualidad.

For the whole archipelago, Diario de Avisos reported an average of €1.448 for Super 95 as of 12 August 2026. A 50-litre fill then cost €72.40, which is 24% more than at the start of the year.

According to the consumer price index, fuel in the Canaries was then 19.9% dearer than a year earlier, against 11% for Spain as a whole. Those figures cover other periods and areas, so you cannot compare them directly with Telde.

Why is fuel taxed differently in the Canaries?

The cut in VAT on fuel from 21% to 10% does not apply in the Canaries, Xataka explains. The islands use the IGIC, the Canary Islands consumption tax, which works much like VAT.

The Consejo de Gobierno (the Canary Islands government council) approved Decreto-ley 6/2026 on 28 September 2026, and it has applied since 1 October. According to RTVC, the decree, published in the BOC (the Canary Islands official gazette) on 30 September, extends tax measures linked to the Middle East crisis.

Petrol and diesel keep an IGIC rate of 0% from October to December 2026, report RTVC and the law firm Garrigues. Diario de Avisos puts the relief at around 10 cents a litre, or about €5 per 50-litre tank.

Does the 0% rate also apply in November and December?

The 0% rate applies in November only if the consumer price index for petrol and diesel in the Canaries was more than 15% above the previous year in September, says Garrigues. December works the same way, using the October figures.

Nobody has confirmed whether November met the threshold. No official finding has turned up, for example in the BOC or from the tax authority.

Garrigues says farmers and haulage firms get a partial refund of the special IECDP tax. In November it is €29.15 per 1,000 litres of petrol and €24.42 per 1,000 litres of diesel.

In December the figures are €55.65 and €46.62, again only if the price condition is met. The refund applies only to professional users, so hire car drivers simply enjoy the lower prices without applying for anything.

What does this mean for visitors in the south of the island?

Telde Actualidad gives figures for Telde only. It names no prices for other parts of the island, such as the south.

RTVC and Garrigues say the 0% tax rate applies across the whole region, not just in Telde. If you fill up elsewhere, compare prices at the pump.

The 0% rate runs only until 31 December 2026. The sources gave no date for a decision on January.

December prices depend on the oil price and on whether the 0% rate continues. Telde Actualidad apparently publishes its price report weekly, but the next date is not confirmed.
