When and where do Juan Mesa y Los Tetrabaifos play?

The Café Teatro Rayuela in Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosts the concert on Friday 6 November 2026 at 21:00. Counted from Wednesday 4 November, that leaves two days.

The address is Calle Bethencourt Alfonso 4, 38002 Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Our research puts the venue in the centre of the city, but the organiser gives no details on getting there, parking or buses.

Anyone living or holidaying in the south of the island needs a trip to Santa Cruz for this evening. The sources give no journey time, so you plan the route and the way back yourself.

The café announces the evening in Spanish. We found nothing on the language of the songs or on notes for guests who speak other languages, so the evening is aimed more at Spanish speakers.

How much are tickets, and are any left?

The café lists 12 euros in advance and 15 euros at the door. Buying ahead saves you 3 euros.

Advance sales run online through the ticket service Tickety.

Ticket listings for the venue mark the date as low availability. Whether the concert is sold out is not confirmed, so anyone who wants to be sure should buy in advance.

We found nothing on seating, capacity, age limits or a minimum spend. The café answers questions on 690 225 408 or by email at info@cafeteatrorayuela.es.

Who is Juan Mesa?

Juan Mesa is a composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and audiovisual producer from La Gomera. He was born in Venezuela and has lived in Hermigua since childhood.

The café describes Los Tetrabaifos as one of the most personal projects of the experienced artist. All his ancestors come from the island of La Gomera, it says.

Mesa says he travels everywhere with a timple, chácaras and the Gomeran drum. In 2022, for Canary Islands Day, the broadcaster RTVC called the chácaras baifas his most important instrument for La Gomera’s folk heritage.

Chácaras are large, castanet-like clappers played on La Gomera and El Hierro. The name “baifas” in the café’s wording hints at a link to these islands, but that is not confirmed.

What does the evening sound like?

The music blends singer-songwriter style with Canarian roots music, progressive rock, jazz and world music. The café speaks of a sensitive and stimulating journey, led by Juan Mesa’s unmistakable voice.

According to the café, the chácaras baifas carry the sound. Agustín Buenafuente, Antonio Lorenzo, Carlos Pérez, Axel Gonzalez and Yelica Cabrera join him.

The café does not say which instruments the five fellow musicians play. No programme or song list for the evening has been published either.

There is no explanation for the band name Tetrabaifos. A link to “baifo”, the Canarian word for a young goat, seems likely, but that is only a guess.

What else does Mesa do, and what comes next?

In March 2026 Mesa travelled to Maui in Hawaii to work on the project “Song for Stars”. With Hawaiian guitarist Jeff Peterson and Tibetan musician Nawang Khechog, he wants to create music drawn from deep human memory.

One day it could be sent towards habitable exoplanets found by the ExoLife Finder telescope. The report compares the idea with the Golden Records on NASA’s probes of 1977.

The Café Teatro Rayuela seems to have hosted the group before. One listing names a gig on Sunday 4 January, with no year, and it is not confirmed whether the November date is a repeat.

We found no further concert dates for the group. The venue itself opens from 20:30 on Wednesday to Saturday and stays closed on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday.
