What can visitors expect in Valsequillo?

Wine, cheese, honey, cider, gofio, liqueurs, jams, baked goods, ice cream, oils and cured meats: all of this is on offer at the Pabellón Municipal El Mercadillo and the surrounding grounds. The 2026 fair is called “Alma de Medianías”.

The Mancomunidad de Municipios de las Medianías de Gran Canaria organises it. The Cabildo de Gran Canaria (island government) provides financial support.

On both days visitors can taste wines with the protected designation of origin DOP Gran Canaria. Cheese, cider, gofio, honey and other Canarian products are also available for tasting.

On Saturday horses show their skills in a threshing demonstration, alongside a beekeeping course and a concert by Señor Natilla. On Sunday there is folklore, a demonstration with draught teams and a cattle and goat show.

Which producers are taking part?

As Canarias7 reports, 80 participants are expected. 49 come from Gran Canaria, nine from Tenerife and seven from Lanzarote.

Six producers travel from La Palma, five from El Hierro and four from Fuerteventura. Another report mentions 83 Canarian brands, and the sources do not explain the discrepancy.

Cheese makers, wineries, beekeepers and makers of artisan baked goods, jams, oils and cured meats are taking part. All products come from the Canary Islands.

How do visitors from the south get there?

Bus company Global is laying on a special service because of the expected crowds. Departure times, routes and fares are still open according to the information available.

Residents, foreign residents and tourists do not need any special application or registration. There is also no participation fee according to the information available.

No one has yet published sale prices, payment methods or quantity limits. Organisers and municipalities still need to say exactly how the buses will run and whether there will be traffic measures.

What is on offer on Sunday?

On Sunday 1 November, the gastronomic initiative “Come Baifo por Navidad” is on the programme. The photo exhibition “La piel de Canarias” is also included.

The exhibition shows the landscapes and traditions of the islands. There are also various sensory experiences around the regional products.

The fair is for direct purchase and tasting of regional produce. Visitors sample on site and buy directly from the producers.

What does the Cabildo say about the fair?

Antonio Morales, president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, called the fair “lo mejor del sector primario de la isla de Gran Canaria”. He pointed to the growing share of local production.

According to Morales, Gran Canaria currently produces 62 percent of the potatoes consumed and 90 percent of the eggs. Almost 40 percent of seasonal fruit also comes from the island.

José Armengol, president of the Mancomunidad and mayor of Santa Brígida, stressed the value of the people behind the products. They kept the landscapes and villages of the Medianías alive.

What is still open?

Producers could register from 1 to 30 September 2026. Applications went by email to [email protected], and places were limited.

For the public, the information currently gives no further deadlines or access requirements. Organisers and municipalities still need to publish prices, the full timetable and accessibility details.

The fair is scheduled to take place on 31 October and 1 November 2026. The special Global service is intended to carry thousands of visitors.
