Free — with exactly one exception
The word "free" comes from the Cabildo: its cultural agenda calls the programme "gratuita y abierta al público". The poster is more precise. It colour-codes every slot by venue and adds icons: "Todos los públicos", "Público familiar", "Aforo limitado", "+12" — and "Venta de entradas", ticket sales. That last one appears against a single slot: "Mini Break" on Saturday at 12.00 at the Teatro Circo de Marte, the only theatre auditorium in the programme.
The second indoor venue, the Museo Insular, is not marked as paid: "Real 360" carries only the limited-capacity icon and the age guidance there. So 20 of the 21 slots are announced without a ticket and one with it; neither a price nor a sales point had been published as of 19 September.
What FAVE is, and why it falls in September
FAVE stands for Festival de las Artes Visuales y Escénicas, the festival of visual and performing arts. It is run by the Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de La Palma and programmed by the culture department under councillor Alberto Perdomo; 2026 is the fifth edition, and the second ran, according to El Time, in October 2023. The town hall has published no budget figure. Mayor Asier Antona set out the aim as "culture happening in the city and not only inside cultural venues". The change of dates, the town hall says, is meant to strengthen the open-air programme for families as the school year begins.
Four productions worth crossing the island for
"Triplette" carries the number that needs reading carefully: the town hall and the island media write that the production "has amassed four Premios Max". In the candidate list for the XXIX Premios Max (Mérida 2026) it does appear four times — best street show, best production design, best scenic space or video design, and best costume design. It was a finalist in the street category, where the Max went to "Gota" by Txema Muñoz. Four nominations, then, and no award.
"El Bosque Mágico" is the only item running on all four evenings: a walk-through light installation in La Alameda inspired by Lewis Carroll, with videomapping and ultraviolet light. "Real 360" is its opposite: a sound piece at the Museo Insular delivered through headphones and three-dimensional audio. Brodas Bros are an urban dance company from Barcelona; "Mini Break" explains beatbox, DJing, scratching, breakdance and graffiti to children.
Getting there: one bus, one ferry, unanswered questions
The venues sit on a single axis: the town hall's tourism pages list Calle O'Daly and Calle Anselmo Pérez de Brito together as "La Calle Real", the historic main street, and the street parades run along it. The Museo Insular and the Teatro Circo de Marte are in that same old quarter.
From Los Llanos, TILP line 300 takes about 50 minutes; on Saturday and Sunday the last return leaves Santa Cruz at 21.40, on Thursday and Friday at 22.10. Line 100 links Barlovento and Santa Cruz in about 55 minutes, with a last departure at 22.40 every day; line 500 runs from the airport in about 30 minutes. From other islands the sea route goes via Los Cristianos: Fred. Olsen Express quotes 150 minutes from 14 euros, and Armas Trasmediterránea covers the same route without a published timetable. On parking and road closures the town hall says nothing. For anyone staying on: the Festival Hispanoamericano de Literatura follows in Los Llanos de Aridane from 28 September to 3 October.
