Which direct flights to Fuerteventura are there?

AENA lists a total of 67 destinations and 36 airlines for Fuerteventura on 4 October 2026. Published direct destinations within Spain include Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Málaga, Seville, Santiago de Compostela, Gran Canaria and Tenerife North.

From Germany, Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf-Weeze, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne/Bonn, Leipzig, Munich, Münster and Nuremberg are served. From Italy, Bergamo, Bologna, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Pisa, Rome and Verona appear in the AENA directory.

From the United Kingdom and Ireland, AENA lists Belfast, Birmingham, Dublin, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted and Manchester, among others. Further European destinations are Amsterdam, Basel, Brussels, Copenhagen, Oslo, Paris Orly, Prague, Stockholm, Warsaw, Vienna and Zurich.

The flight offering is not identical for every destination all year round. Flight days, seasonal routes and the operating airline must therefore be checked for the specific travel date.

How do I get from Fuerteventura Airport onwards?

The airport publishes three important public bus connections. Line 3 runs from the airport via Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste to Las Salinas. Line 10 connects the airport with Puerto del Rosario and Morro Jable.

Line 16 runs from the airport via Puerto del Rosario to Gran Tarajal. For current timetables and fares, AENA refers to the operator Tiadhe. The stop is located in the terminal on level 0.

For taxis, AENA expressly recommends the official, signposted taxi rank at the terminal. Journeys with unauthorised providers should be avoided; a receipt should be requested for complaints.

Several car hire companies are also represented at the airport in the arrivals area on level 0, including Avis, Cicar, Europcar, Hertz, Payless, Sixt, TopCar and others.

How much do flights to Fuerteventura cost?

A generally valid final price for flights to Fuerteventura cannot be stated reliably. According to AENA, the price depends on departure point, travel date, fare, baggage, seat, demand and airline, among other factors.

For a reliable price indication, the specific date must therefore always be checked with the respective provider. AENA's 2026 price guide shows airport charges and service charges; however, these are not complete final customer prices for flight tickets.

The published amounts relate to charges per departing passenger and ground handling services, among other things. As a reference for fares, AENA cites an updated price overview from March 2026.

Which booking mistakes should I avoid?

When searching, the airport codes FUE for Fuerteventura and the respective departure airport should be used. Direct flights and connecting flights should be compared separately. Baggage, seat and change fees belong in the final price.

For seasonal routes, outbound and return flights should be checked separately, as flight days may differ. For onward travel, the final destination is decisive: Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste are significantly closer to the airport than Morro Jable or Gran Tarajal.

Before departure, the flight status and current airport information should be checked with AENA as well as the airline's requirements. Those flying early should not rely on night-time public transport.

How has air traffic on Fuerteventura developed?

The current El Matorral airport was opened on 14 September 1969. The first commercial flight was an Iberia Fokker 27 on the route Las Palmas–Fuerteventura–Lanzarote. In 1973, the European direct connection began with Condor from Düsseldorf.

An expansion programme running from 2006 included an investment of more than 237 million euros, according to AENA. It doubled the planned capacity to around 8 million passengers per year.

Germany and the United Kingdom account for more than half of international traffic at the airport. Domestic traffic is concentrated mainly on Gran Canaria, Madrid, Tenerife North and Barcelona.

What alternatives are there when prices are high?

When prices are high or direct flights are unavailable, it is worth comparing with Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Lanzarote is the closest alternative; both islands have strong European traffic and can be combined by ferry.

A connection via Madrid, Gran Canaria or Tenerife can expand the available departure times. When combining flight and ferry, times, baggage and the transfer between airport and port should be checked separately.

For Betancuria, Jandía and remote beaches, a hire car is advisable. For Puerto del Rosario, Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste, bus or a reserved transfer is sufficient.
