What is new at Gáldar Carnival?
Gáldar town hall is going for a fairy-tale theme in 2027: El Bosque Encantado, the enchanted forest. The official motif links the forest with Gáldar's three-hundred-year-old dragon tree, butterflies and mushrooms.
The department responsible is the Concejalía de Cultura y Fiestas of the Ayuntamiento de Gáldar, the municipal authority. It is led by Julio Mateo Castillo, the councillor for culture and festivities.
When does the carnival start and what is confirmed?
The carnival officially starts on Friday 29 January 2027 and ends on Saturday 13 February 2027. The opening prologue begins on 29 January at 21:00 in the Recinto Cultural La Quinta.
The group Las Brilli Brilli del Guanarteme will deliver the Pregón, the traditional opening speech. The drag gala follows on Saturday 30 January at 21:00, also in La Quinta.

The daytime children's carnival takes place on Sunday 31 January from 12:00 in the Plaza de Santiago. The family carnival is announced for Sunday 7 February in La Quinta.
The youth carnival is planned for Tuesday 9 February in the Plaza de Santiago. The town hall has scheduled the main carnival parade, the Cabalgata, for Saturday 6 February.
How does the carnival end?
On Saturday 13 February, the daytime carnival and the burial of the sardine are on the programme. The burial of the sardine is the traditional closing event of the carnival.
