What changes on the night the clocks go back?

On Sunday 25 October 2026 Spain returns to winter time. At 02:00 the clocks on Gran Canaria go back to 01:00, as Canarias7 reported on 23 October 2026.

Special rules therefore apply to Global's night regional buses. All services that start on Saturday evening run to their normal finish time on the old clock.

The hour between 01:00 and 02:00 repeats that night. A departure in that period can therefore appear twice in timetables.

Anyone travelling on the night from Saturday to Sunday should check the actual departure time against the new clock. The repeated hour needs particular care when changing buses.

Which routes are affected on Sunday morning?

Certain Sunday morning departures already run on the new time. Route 05 towards Faro de Maspalomas–San Telmo leaves at 03:05 and at 04:35.

Route 303 towards San Telmo–San Mateo leaves at 02:30. These are the times given in the Global notice reported by Canarias7.

Route 05 links the south of Gran Canaria with the capital. Route 303 runs from San Telmo inland to San Mateo.

No extra closure or temporary suspension is announced for these routes. The buses run, just at different times than usual.

What does this mean for late-night travellers and early risers?

Anyone partying in the south of Gran Canaria on Saturday night can take route 05 to San Telmo. The departures at 03:05 and 04:35 already run on the new time.

Early risers who want to take route 303 to San Mateo must plan for 02:30 new time. By then the clock has already gone back one hour.

The notice names no changes to fares or tickets. Eligibility conditions and application deadlines are also unaffected.

The report covers only Global routes. The municipal buses of Guaguas Municipales in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are not automatically included.

What remains open?

It remains open whether individual stops or connecting services will be adjusted as well. The notice available gives no further details on this.

How the changed times will appear in digital timetables has also not been published. Travellers should check Global's official channels before setting off.

Global is the island's intercity bus company. "Guagua" is the usual Canarian word for a scheduled bus.

The clock change itself is not a decision by the island government or the bus companies. It follows the national and European time regime.

How do I check my connection?

Before taking a night bus, it is worth checking the route, stop and time in Global's official journey planner. Pay particular attention to journeys between 01:00 and 02:00.

Anyone arriving from the airport or combining city and intercity buses should confirm connections. The repeated hour can cause confusion when changing buses.

The Guaguas Municipales offices are open on weekdays from 07:30 to 14:30. The telephone numbers are 928 305 800 and 900 109 136.

The notice gives no separate telephone number for Global routes. Official notices and digital timetables are the best source.
