What is on for families and market-goers?

The Casa del Terror (haunted house) “Apocalipsis Zombie” runs on two nights. Tickets are donation tickets and go on sale again on Tuesday 3 November at 12:00.

Tejeda hosts an event on 14 and 15 November 2026 in Calle Dr. Domingo Hernández Guerra. According to the calendar, km0grancanaria.com has the details.

The Mercado Agrícola de Gáldar (farmers’ market) opens every Sunday from 09:00 to 13:30 on the Plaza de Santiago. It sells fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, honey and wine from island producers, with live music.

Anyone going to see Caserza can combine the trip to Gáldar with the Sunday market. The show falls on a Saturday, though, and the market follows only the next day.

What is the situation on the east-coast beaches?

The state of the beaches on 1 November 2026 is unknown, because the available reports only run to January 2026. For swimmers in the south, one date stands out: according to RTVC, San Agustín and Las Burras in San Bartolomé de Tirajana reopened on 6 November 2025 after good water tests.

The report gave no readings, and no official water figures from the health authority turned up either. Each municipality can give current information.

In 2025, affected beaches were marked with red flags, tape and signs. If you see a flag, stay out of the water, even if the beach otherwise looks well kept.

What happened in 2025, and what is still open?

On 6 November 2025, RTVC reported a thick substance of unknown origin on the east coast. Councils raised red flags, and Melenara in Telde and El Yodo in Santa Lucía de Tirajana stayed shut at the time.

The Ayuntamiento (town hall) of Santa Lucía de Tirajana reported very high levels of dirt and feed residue. An aquaculture company spoke of a possible discharge from an underwater outfall and said it was complying with the law.

On 6 December 2025, Melenara, Salinetas, Aguadulce, Tufia and Ojos de Garza in Telde were still closed. Melenara reopened on 18 December 2025, according to our research, but on 28 January 2026 Telde closed Salinetas and Melenara again.

The environmental prosecutor’s office in Las Palmas has been investigating since 17 October 2025, as has Seprona, the Guardia Civil’s environmental police. The research found no result, no costs and no answer on who will pay.
