What happens on 31 October in La Laguna?

The Isla Calavera Zombie Walk takes place on Sunday, 1 November 2026, from 17:00 at Plaza del Adelantado. Costumes, make-up, music and a public celebration for residents, visitors and families are planned.

The events listing on lagenda.org does not give an exact starting point or time for the procession as of Friday. Anyone wanting to take part should head towards the old town in the late afternoon.

At the same time, the five municipal cemeteries of San Juan, San Luis, Valle de Guerra, Tejina and Punta del Hidalgo open from 7:00 to 18:00. The city council has set these hours for 31 October and 1 November 2026.

On the evening of 31 October, the music event "A la luz de las velas" sounds in all five cemeteries at the same time. The performances begin at 18:30 and at 19:45.

What is Finados?

Finados is the Canarian tradition of remembering the dead, observed around 1 November. In La Laguna the programme combines Canarian and Mexican customs of Día de Muertos until 23 November 2026.

According to lagenda.org, the customs include the death knell of the Iglesia de la Concepción and the old calls "¿Hay Santitos?" and "Pan por Dios". Children once used these to go from house to house asking for small gifts.

The city council describes Finados as an offering that shares beliefs, legends and traditional stories about death and remembrance. It includes guided tours and school activities.

What other events are there?

What should visitors from the south know?

La Laguna lies in the north-east of Tenerife and is reachable from the south via the TF-1 and TF-5 motorways. According to diariodeavisos.elespanol.com, the San Cristóbal de La Laguna city council has not published a specific traffic plan or parking advice for 31 October 2026.

Anyone arriving by car should allow extra time because of the old town and the evening events. The historic centre is largely pedestrian-friendly, and parking spaces on the edge are usually scarce.

For people with reduced mobility, the Teatro Leal offers telephone or in-person ticket purchase for "Don Juan Tenorio". The box office is available on 922 265 433 from Monday to Saturday between 11:00 and 13:00 and 18:00 and 20:00.

What is still open?

The events listing does not confirm a complete official schedule for "Finados & Halloween La Laguna 2026" as of Friday. Possible road closures, diversions, capacity limits or registration requirements have also not been published.

For the Isla Calavera Zombie Walk, lagenda.org gives neither a start time nor an exact route. Admission prices or registration conditions for the procession are also not stated.

The next binding details would have to be published by the Ayuntamiento de San Cristóbal de La Laguna or the respective organiser. Until then, anyone heading to La Laguna on 31 October will find a packed programme but must remain flexible on the ground.
