What does the triathlon mean for holidaymakers and residents?

On 24 October 2026, the Avenida de Las Playas in Puerto del Carmen will largely belong to the athletes. According to the regulations of the organiser K3 Servicios Deportivos Integrales SL, the transition area, finish and run laps are located on this road.

The run course will be closed to traffic for safety reasons. The organiser has not stated in the official event notice exactly which sections are affected and when the closures apply.

Anyone travelling around Puerto del Carmen that Saturday should allow extra time. According to trilanzarote.com, the bike course runs along Calle Noruega and the LZ-40, with turning points at the airport junction and the El Toro roundabout.

Which distances and start times are confirmed?

According to the regulations, the Ocean Lava Lanzarote includes a supersprint and an Olympic distance. The Olympic distance consists of 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running.

The organiser has published two different schedules, both described as definitive. According to trilanzarote.com, the safe time is the earlier of the two: from 08:00.

Race packs will be issued on Friday 23 October from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. The briefing begins at 19:00 at the Plaza de las Naciones.

What does it cost to take part and who can start?

The fee for the supersprint is 30 euros, and 95 euros for the Olympic individual entry. According to the regulations, the earlier Olympic price of 85 euros applied until 30 June 2026.

For the Olympic formats, participants must generally be of legal age. In the supersprint, participants aged 14 and over are admitted, provided a responsible adult guardian gives consent.

A medical certificate is not required. Accident insurance is required, as are a race number and chip during the event. A day licence or a valid triathlon ID is needed for the transition area.

What is happening in Tinajo at the same time?

On the same Saturday, CD Evesport is holding the 14th edition of the Rally de Tierra de Tinajo – Memorial Jefry Hernández. The event is part of the Campeonato de Canarias de Velocidad en Tierra.

The timed stage runs over the Tinajo–Las Betancoras section with a length of 4.750 km. Two practice runs and four scoring runs are planned, two in each direction.

Technical scrutineering begins at 09:00 and the competition starts at 11:30. The prize ceremony takes place afterwards in La Santa. The entry fee is 150 euros for touring cars and 130 euros for single-seaters.

What is still open?

The accessible official information contains contradictory start times between the programme and the regulations. A binding, uniform start time is therefore not confirmed.

For the relay, the price is 50 euros per athlete or 150 euros per team. Only the price for a two-person team is unclear.

No different entry prices or special rules have been published for residents, foreign residents or visitors. The sources also do not name any confirmed spectator fees, parking arrangements or public transport closures.

What happens next?

Registration for the triathlon closes on 18 October 2026 at 23:59, or earlier if places sell out. Registration is exclusively via the organiser's website.

For the rally in Tinajo, the registration deadline had already passed on 14 October 2026. Registration was via VMRM.net.

The rally was originally scheduled for 11 April 2026 and was moved to 24 October. Both events take place on the same day, but are far apart geographically.
