What can holidaymakers and residents expect at Semana Malvasía?

Wine takes centre stage from 3 to 8 November 2026, joined by music, art, gastronomy and volcanic scenery. The twelfth edition is organised by the regulatory council of the Vinos de Lanzarote designation of origin.

The event aims to make the island's wine tradition something people can experience. Bodegas, art spaces and restaurants become meeting points for a few days, where visitors learn about the work behind every bottle.

According to La Voz de Lanzarote, the same access conditions apply to residents, foreign residents and visitors at Semana Malvasía.

Which five events are on the programme?

On Tuesday, 3 November, "Vinos & Vinilos" opens at Bodegas El Grifo. During the guided tasting, music chosen to match each wine is played from vinyl records.

On Wednesday, 4 November, artist Rufina Santana leads an oenological-artistic workshop at the Lanzarote Art Center in San Bartolomé. Participants paint with wine.

On Thursday, 5 November, things get playful at Restaurant El Baifo. At "VINOmios (Im)perfectos", two initially undisclosed wines arrive with each dish, and guests decide which pairs better.

On Friday, 6 November, "Origen, Territorio y Vino" celebrates its premiere. The new event brings together wines and products from Lanzarote and La Palma.

On Sunday, 8 November, a wine landscape route runs through La Geria, marking International Wine Tourism Day. Guests visit Bodegas La Geria, Stratvs and Rubicón.

How do you book?

Booking opens on Monday, 26 October 2026, at 10:00. Those interested can reserve at semanamalvasia.com.

The sources do not state participation fees, capacity limits or times for individual programme items. Prices, availability and cancellation rules therefore remain open.

For that reason, the relevant guidance from the organiser and venues applies. Anyone who wants to be certain should check the website after it goes live on 26 October.

What applies to the ConVinados menu in Playa Honda?

Restaurant Nakai in Playa Honda serves the "ConVinados" menu all week. It pairs cuisine and wines from Lanzarote.

Anyone who wants to try the menu with wine pairing must book explicitly. No details on price or menu sequence have been published so far.

The offer complements the five main events and runs throughout the entire event week. It is aimed at everyone who wants to explore the link between cuisine and wine in more depth.

Who is behind the event?

The regulatory council of the Vinos de Lanzarote designation of origin sets the framework as organiser. Support comes from the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Cajamar Caja Rural and the Government of the Canary Islands.

According to Cadena SER, funding for Semana Malvasía runs within the framework of PEPAC.

The named wineries, specialists and hospitality businesses are also involved. According to the regulatory council, they make the annual event possible in the first place.

What remains open?

Times for the individual events are still missing from the published programme information. Meeting points for the wine landscape route, shuttles and public transport also remain unmentioned.

Rely on the guidance from the organiser and venues as a result. Nobody mentions changes to traffic arrangements or special opening hours.

Why does the landscape of La Geria play a special role?

Winegrowing in La Geria is shaped by the volcanic landscape. According to Interempresas, the vines grow in planting pits covered with lapilli, which retain moisture and protect against erosion.

Semana Malvasía uses this landscape as part of its cultural and tourist offer. The wine landscape route on 8 November makes that particularly visible.

The 2026 edition explicitly extends the island comparison to La Palma for the first time. However, no quantitative comparison of wine production or wine tourism between the islands can be drawn from this.
