A building site shifts the island's biggest comics weekend

Infecar, the festival's home for years, is shut for building work. The council wrote on 1 October 2026 that the city centre would become the "corazón del universo manga" for three days — "debido a las obras que se realizan en el recinto ferial Infecar". The festival has run since 2010, is organised by the Ecolucan association with backing from the council and the island cabildo, and culture councillor Josué Íñiguez presented it on Thursday in the castle itself. The move is also a change of date: in 2025 the festival ran from 7 to 9 November at Infecar, so an indoor November weekend becomes an open-air one.

Two sites or three? What lies behind the "Zona Triana"

The council names two sites; the footer on every festival page names three: "Parque de San Telmo, Castillo de Mata y Zona Triana". The organisers' home page settles it: they will occupy "el Parque de San Telmo y sus alrededores en Triana", with activities in the castle as well. "Zona Triana" is therefore not a third venue but the area around the park; Canarias7 also reported a cosplay parade through Triana on Sunday.

The castle holds, per the council, the videogame zone, a medieval village, a Star Wars rebel base and the meet-ups with artists and voice actors, plus five exhibitions: Tolkien, Masters of the Universe, Conan, Frank Frazetta and Berserk by Kentaro Miura. The Tolkien show is the largest ever seen in the Canaries, Íñiguez said. The park carries, per Ecolucan, the trade stands, the artist alley, the contest stage, the workshops and the food trucks.

The hours are not the same on all three days

Skim the hours and you will get Sunday wrong: Friday and Saturday run 10:30 to 20:30, Sunday 10:30 to 19:30. The council's release gives no times at all. There is also a gap that appears in no summary: the workshops-and-activities card for the park states "de 10:30h a 14:30h y de 16:30h a 20:00h", while the castle exhibitions are listed as a "zona con horario continuo" with no times given. On Friday the park stage runs from 10:30 to 20:30, and in the castle the talks and signings fall between 11:00 and 19:00. The visit by artist Goran Parlov has been cancelled on health grounds, the organisers say.

Three different prices for the same weekend

The organisers' ticket page gives exactly one number: €18 for the three-day pass, which works out at an average of €6 a day. It gives no single-day price.

Other sources do, and they disagree. The Entradas Canarias event database that feeds the online sale lists a minimum price of €9 for the festival; we queried it on 2 October at 08:36 and again at 08:44 UTC. The Fundación Canaria Cine+Cómics, by contrast, reported €10 a day and €19 for all three on 1 October. The one-euro gap in each case is the right size for a booking fee, but nobody publishes a breakdown, and the shop cannot be checked: venta.entradascanarias.com returned status 403 on every attempt. If a day really costs €9, the pass cuts the daily price by a third.

The morning's ticket listing, the capacity question and the criticism

At 06:45:56 UTC the Entradas Canarias interface carried two extra ticket lines — 2 and 3 October, both 10:30, Parque San Telmo, €9 — each flagged as no longer available. By 07:05:23 UTC they had vanished entirely. In our own queries at 08:36:29, 08:36:56 and 08:44:43 UTC there was a single record with four session lines, and all four read as available. Nothing is sold out. Whether the vanished lines ran out and were delisted, or were created in error and withdrawn, cannot be settled from outside while the shop answers with a 403.

Three questions stay open. Nobody gives a capacity for the park or the castle — the most striking gap for an event that drew five-figure crowds last year. No source says whether one ticket covers both sites; the ticket database lists only "Parque San Telmo" as the venue. And although both sites sit in the centre, in and around the Triana district, nobody publishes a distance or a walking route. Nor is the move unopposed: a petition on Change.org has been running since 20 August 2026 to shift the festival to the Agüimes exhibition grounds, with 368 of a target 500 signatures at 08:44 UTC on 2 October; its author, who describes herself as a cosplayer, calls San Telmo "demasiado concurrida y peligrosa". A petition is not a representative survey, and we know of no response from the organisers or the council.
