Is the Pino Santo trail taking place on 6 December 2026?

Several online calendars list the race for Sunday 6 December 2026 in Pino Santo Alto, Santa Brígida. The Ayuntamiento (town council) does not confirm that date on its events page.

The official page describes the third edition and gives 6 December 2025. It is marked as past and does not mention 2026 at all.

6 December 2026 falls on a Sunday, so the date looks plausible. Neither the town council, the official gazette nor the media has announced a fourth edition.

The organisers' site, trailpinosanto.com, gives 6 December 2026. Entry is open.

How long is the route and who can take part?

According to the town council, the trail race covers 12.3 kilometres, 85% of it on paths and village tracks. Runners who do not finish within three hours exceed the time limit.

Those who prefer no time pressure can choose the 7.5-kilometre walk. The town council says it is not a competition and rates its difficulty as medium to high.

The Absoluto overall classification, split into women and men, is open only to residents of Santa Brígida. Everyone else runs in the age categories.

Senior covers ages 18 to 39, and Veteran 1 covers 40 to 49. Veteran 2 is for 50 to 59, Veteran 3 for everyone aged 60 and over.

No source has yet given the amount of climb. Anyone wanting to judge the profile should ask the organiser.

What does it cost and how do you enter?

The trail costs 22 euros and the walk 12 euros. The town council's page shows no price, and what the fee includes has not been published.

Entry goes through an external link from the organiser. No source has yet named an entry deadline or a cap on participants.

For the 2025 edition, entry opened on 3 October, a little over two months before the race. That is last year's figure, not a promise for 2026.

The town council answers questions on 928 648 181, extension 0311, or by email at cultura@santabrigida.es. These contact details appear on the page for the 2025 edition.

Where does the race start and how do you get there?

Where the race starts is unclear, because the sources contradict each other. The 2026 calendars name Pino Santo Alto, while the 2025 entry named Pino Santo Bajo.

No source gives a start address, parking, a shuttle or a bus link. There is no notice on road closures either.

Visitors from the south of Gran Canaria should ask the organiser or the town council about the start point and travel beforehand. Ask about the start time too.

The town council's calendar gives 08:00 to 14:00 for 2025, another calendar 09:00 to 14:00. None of the sources lists a separate start time.

A German-language calendar wrongly places the race in Las Palmas. The town council's page shows it takes place in the municipality of Santa Brígida.

Who organises the race and what awaits runners?

The organiser is the Asociación de Vecinos La Caldera (residents' association), and the Sociedad Municipal de Deportes is the main sponsor. The Cabildo de Gran Canaria (island government) backs the race because it belongs to a social project to save old footpaths.

The project began in the neighbourhood itself. For the 2025 edition, the town council restored six main paths, according to its page.

The route lies in or beside the Paisaje Protegido de Pino Santo (protected landscape). A hiking guide describes the Caldera de Pino Santo there, a large hollow formed when the volcanic cone collapsed.

The same guide mentions fields of potatoes, vegetables and fruit, plus sheep and goats. It also lists the old rock stores of Los Silos, the Cruz de Morales viewpoint and the Pino Santo dragon tree above the Barranco Alonso.

These places come from the description of a walk from Santa Brígida to Teror, not from the race route map. No route map for 2026 exists yet.

What is still open before the race?

The start time, start point, route map, amount of climb and any road closures for 2026 are all open. No source has named an entry deadline either.

Entry for 2026 is already open, according to the organisers' site. More details should appear on trailpinosanto.com and from the town council.
