What changes for holidaymakers and residents?

The new fee applies only in certain time slots, not across the whole national park. Access to the summit path PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo will be charged daily from 09:00 to 17:00.

The PNT 07 Montaña Blanca–La Rambleta ascent tariffs apply daily from 09:00 to 15:00. Outside these times, Tenerife ON shows different access conditions.

Anyone registered on Tenerife will continue to pay nothing in both time slots. What matters is the recognised place of residence, not the passport.

Anyone living on another Canary Island will pay 6 euros for PNT 10. For PNT 07 the charge is 3 euros on weekdays and 5 euros at weekends.

Holidaymakers and all other visitors will pay 15 euros for PNT 10. For PNT 07 the charge is 6 euros on weekdays and 10 euros at weekends.

Which paths are affected?

The PNT 10 Telesforo Bravo runs from the cable car top station to the Teide summit at 3,718 metres. Access to this path is strictly regulated.

The PNT 07 Montaña Blanca–La Rambleta is the classic ascent from Montaña Blanca to La Rambleta. Quotas and time slots continue to apply to both paths.

According to the Cabildo, a maximum of 300 people per day are allowed on PNT 10. Anyone wanting to walk PNT 10 needs a separate authorisation in addition to the PNT 07 permit.

The publications do not mention a general closure of the paths. No additional fee is mentioned for all other Teide hiking routes either.

How does the reservation work?

Booking continues through the Tenerife ON platform. You will need a credit or debit card and the details of all participants.

New booking slots open on Tenerife ON every Monday at 07:00 Canary Island time. According to the Cabildo, a 28-day period remains available.

Confirmed reservations generally cannot be changed or cancelled. It is also not possible to swap participants, dates or times.

Refunds are only given if the path is closed because of weather or other exceptional circumstances. A non-operational Teide cable car service also leads to a refund.

Anyone without the required minimum equipment will generally not be refunded. The minimum equipment is listed on the Tenerife ON website.

Who is exempt from the fee?

Recognised mountain guides pay nothing. Children under 14 also pay nothing for PNT 10.

For PNT 07, the tariff table does not mention a general exemption for children. Tenerife residents continue to pay 0 euros in both cases.

The fee is intended as a charge for information and interpretation of the natural area. It is not a general entry ticket for the national park.

Why is the Cabildo introducing the eco-fee?

President Rosa Dávila calls the eco-fee a “compromise with the protection of the Teide National Park”. At the same time, access remains free for Tenerife residents.

The measure is designed to protect the heavily visited national park and fund an accompanying information service. Department head Blanca Pérez speaks of a better adaptation to the “real capacity of the surroundings”.

The Cabildo also announces further traffic and parking measures. Their concrete prices and dates are not yet fixed in the available information.

What remains open?

It is not conclusively clear how proof of residence will be checked in practice. The publications give no details on this.

An earlier Cabildo statement mentioned prices of up to 25 euros for the service. The more detailed tariff table, however, shows the amounts stated above for the two paths.

For visitors in the south of Tenerife, the main point is this: anyone planning the summit path or the ascent via Montaña Blanca should book early. Quotas are limited, and confirmed reservations are binding.
