When and where is the dome in Parque del Sur open?

The council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the municipality that covers Maspalomas, opens the dome from 6 December 2026 to 6 January 2027. According to the tender, it runs every day of the week, from 19:00 to 22:30.

The site is Parque del Sur in Maspalomas. In recent years it has hosted the Christmas event Navidades del Mundo.

Entry is free, as the contract documents state. The council has not published whether visitors need to reserve a place or whether numbers are capped.

The tender says the dome stays shut before 19:00 and closes at 22:30. The documents do not say how long the show lasts.

What can visitors expect inside the dome?

The dome is geodesic and hemispherical, at least 20 metres across and 10 metres high at the centre. The tender describes it as a temporary Christmas-themed building for an immersive audiovisual experience.

Here, immersive means the projection is meant to surround the audience, as in similar domes. The council still has to approve the show’s script.

The budget for the contract is a maximum of 401,250 euros. There is no show title or synopsis yet.

Who will build the dome has not been settled. The documents name no winning bidder.

What else is on around the dome at Navidades del Mundo?

According to the tender, Navidades del Mundo runs in Parque del Sur from 14 December 2026 to 7 January 2027. The dome therefore opens eight days before the event starts.

The programme and performances concentrate on 19 December to 3 January. There are no activities on 24 and 31 December 2026 or on 1 January 2027.

Whether the dome stays closed on those three days is open. The tender lists it as open daily, so it is worth asking the council before visiting on those dates.

The council’s 2025 programme included more than 40 activities in the town’s districts. The detailed 2026 programme with times is not yet available.

How do you get there, and what is still unclear?

For 2026 the council has published nothing on access, parking, buses or step-free entry. Age limits and the dome’s capacity are also unknown.

While the decorations went up in 2025, the park was closed Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00, between 17 November and 5 December. Nobody has confirmed whether parts will close again in 2026.

The dome must be standing by 1 December 2026 at the latest, five days before it opens. The council has not said whether the park will still be a building site by then.

What does Navidades del Mundo cost, and who is involved?

The council put Navidades del Mundo out to tender in three lots, worth 439,000 euros including taxes. Soportes Profesionales Canarios SL won the organisation, concept, management and technical delivery for 315,692 euros.

The sound and lighting lot went unfilled, and the security service was also still open, according to the documents. Who will take on either is not known.

The street decorations cost 167,982 euros and cover 1,792 items, and the contract went to Aceinsa Canarias SA. They include 20 banners of each Christmas greeting in Spanish, plus 150 angels with trumpets and 250 baubles.

Which dates apply up to January?

The first fixed date is 1 December 2026, when the dome must be standing. Five days later, on 6 December, it opens to visitors.

Navidades del Mundo begins on 14 December, and the main programme runs from 19 December to 3 January 2027. The tender has the dome closing on 6 January 2027, while the event ends on 7 January.

The council usually releases its programme as a PDF titled Navidades del Mundo. Visitors should check exact times and travel advice on sanbartolome.es or with the council’s press office.
