Is there a bus on La Graciosa?
No. La Graciosa has no public bus service, as the island's visitor information makes clear. The small, protected island north of Lanzarote has no guagua (bus) with fixed stops and timetables like Lanzarote, Tenerife or Gran Canaria.
Land transport is essentially limited to licensed 4×4 taxis and authorised journeys. For most visitors, walking, cycling or booking a taxi are the practical alternatives. Anyone expecting a regular bus connection will not find one on La Graciosa.
Bus travel therefore ends on Lanzarote. Route 9 runs from the Estación de Guaguas in Arrecife to Órzola, the ferry port in the north of Lanzarote.
How do I get from Lanzarote to La Graciosa?
The usual access is via Órzola in the north of Lanzarote. From there, ferries run to Caleta de Sebo, the main settlement and port of La Graciosa. According to visitor information, route 9 bus times are coordinated with ferry departures.
From Lanzarote Airport, shuttle routes first run to the bus station in Arrecife. There, passengers change to route 9 for Órzola.
By taxi, the journey from the airport to Órzola takes about 38 minutes. The guide price quoted is 50 to 60 euros. Prices can change; the current fare should be confirmed before the journey.
Anyone travelling with a hire car on Lanzarote must return it at an authorised drop-off point before the ferry crossing. According to visitor information, there is no car hire company in Órzola and no way to return a hire car there.
Can I hire a car on La Graciosa?
No. A hire car cannot be used on La Graciosa as it can on Lanzarote. The visitor information describes the island as a protected natural area and lists only walking, cycling or the use of authorised 4×4 taxis for visitors.
Private vehicles belonging to residents and authorised taxi and supply vehicles are a separate matter. The available sources do not indicate any general permission for tourists to hire vehicles or drive freely around the island.
The reason is the protection of the natural environment. Most of La Graciosa belongs to the Parque Natural del Archipiélago Chinijo, a marine-terrestrial natural park. The built-up centres of Caleta de Sebo and Pedro Barba are excluded.
Vehicles using tracks within the protected area may require authorisation from the municipality and the park authority, according to the autonomous regulations of the Gobierno de Canarias. That is why there is no large hire car fleet and no free driving for visitors.
How much does a 4×4 taxi cost on La Graciosa?
The licensed 4×4 taxis are usually available near the harbour in Caleta de Sebo. They offer two main services: transfers to beaches or other points, and an island and north tour.
For beach transfers, prices start at 10 euros per person according to visitor information, depending on the destination. The north tour passes Playa de Las Conchas, Caletón de los Arcos, Playa Lambra and Pedro Barba with stops.
One published price lists the north tour at 25 euros per person with a minimum of two people and a capacity of up to eight passengers. Another fare lists 60 euros for up to two people and then 30 euros for each additional person; children aged five to ten pay half.
Because of these differing figures, the final price should be confirmed with the taxi company before booking. According to visitor information, the taxis have uniform or fixed prices for their services. As the number of vehicles is limited, advance booking is recommended.
Where can I hire a bicycle on La Graciosa?
Bicycles can be hired in Caleta de Sebo. Mountain bikes, e-bikes and fat bikes are among those offered; prices depend on the bicycle type and provider.
Another visitor information source quotes around 10 euros per day for a bicycle including helmet.
As these figures are not consistent and vary by provider, season and bicycle type, the specific daily price should be checked before hiring. Booking is recommended, particularly at times of high demand.
The unpaved tracks are suitable for cycling, but pass through a dry landscape with little shade. Plenty of drinking water, sun protection and a bicycle in good repair are essential.
What should I bear in mind when planning?
The taxi rank is on the harbour area of Caleta de Sebo, near the Varadero restaurant. For beach transfers, a return pick-up time must be agreed; remote beaches do not have a regular public return service.
Beach names and sights should be stated precisely when booking, as transfer prices depend on the destination. For bicycles and 4×4 taxis, booking is advisable, especially at times of high demand.
The visitor information quoted was updated between 2024 and 2026. No official fare publication from the Cabildo or an official, legally binding overview of all access restrictions was available in the sources consulted.
Ferry times, bus connections, taxi and bicycle prices should therefore be checked again directly with the relevant provider shortly before travelling. In 2021, the Gobierno de Canarias began preparing a regulation for land transport on La Graciosa for the first time; a municipal bylaw is expected to set maximum numbers, stops, times and fares in future.
