What does Escena Lanzarote mean for visitors in the south?

Anyone living or holidaying in the south of Lanzarote must head to the north-east for Escena. The sixth edition runs from 28 November 2026 to 15 May 2027, almost entirely at Jameos del Agua.

Only the two flamenco nights on 19 and 20 December move to the Cueva de los Verdes. Both sites belong to the Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo (CACT), the art, culture and tourism centres run by the Cabildo (island government) of Lanzarote.

All performances start at 20:00. There is no official word on a shuttle or bus link, so visitors must plan the journey themselves.

The programme says to book at escenalanzarote.com. It gives no prices, and more on that follows below.

What is on in November and December 2026?

The festival opens without a spoken word. On 28 November, Verne by the Murcia-based Compañía Onírica Mecánica plays at Jameos del Agua for 50 minutes, and the programme says it suits all ages.

Nobody needs Spanish for it. Verne tells the adventures of Jules Verne with objects, projections and stage machinery.

Verne first ran at Teatralia 2026 in the Teatros del Canal, then at the Teatro Valle-Inclán in Madrid. The programme says those shows sold out, and the company has existed for twenty years.

On 19 and 20 December, Jesús Carmona dances his Flamenco Repertoire in the Cueva de los Verdes. The show lasts 60 minutes and, according to the programme, is aimed at adults.

The dancer looks back on his career and some of his best-known works. The programme describes the production as an intimate blend of tradition and contemporary expression.

Which performances follow in 2027?

On 19 February 2027, choreographer Richard Mascherin presents Abertura at Jameos del Agua, 70 minutes and for adults only. The piece is about a community at the limit of its endurance and draws on science-fiction motifs.

Rocío Molina follows on 4 March with Encender el Cuerpo, about 90 minutes. In 2026 she won the Talía award for best dancer, and her work Calentamiento also won best show and best choreography.

On 13 March, artists from Tenerife and Taiwan dance Peces borrosos, 60 minutes. Carmen Fumero and the Taiwanese company Chang Dance Theatre co-produced it.

London City Ballet performs El Pájaro de Fuego on 20 March, 100 minutes plus a 20-minute interval. According to the programme, the company won the National Dance Award for best independent company twice in a row.

La Intrusa follows on 3 April with Este Himno Llevará la Palabra Euforia, and Mamela Nyamza with Hatched Ensemble on 22 April, each 70 minutes for adults. Trama closes the festival on 15 May, 60 minutes and for all ages.

How do visitors get tickets, and what do they cost?

The organisers have not said what tickets for 2026/27 cost, nor when pre-sale starts. For booking, the programme points to escenalanzarote.com.

The CACT page for an earlier Escena evening, Gibbon, offers a clue. CACT sells tickets online and at the box offices of its other centres, with a special price for Canary Islands residents, Lanzarote residents and people with disabilities.

According to that page, the discounts cannot be combined, and buyers must show proof at the box office. CACT recommends booking early.

It is not confirmed whether the same rules apply for 2026/27. CACT answers questions on +34 901 200 300.

How has the festival developed since 2019?

The first edition in 2019/20 had seven productions and opened with the British troupe Gandini Juggling at Jameos del Agua. The fourth edition in 2024/25 reached twelve performances.

The number of venues grew from four to six, with the El Salinero theatre in Arrecife added in 2022. Season openings moved later: October in 2019, 2022 and 2024, then 29 November in 2025.

The fifth edition opened on 29 November 2025 with DIQUE by Nova Galega de Danza. There were combined tickets and a reduced price for visitors up to 25 years old.

Prices, pre-sale start, budget and artistic direction are all open for 2026/27. CACT is the Cabildo's public tourism and culture company, but nobody has shown who pays beyond ticket income.
