What changes in Las Palmas on Saturday evening?
On Saturday 7 November, 6,700 runners start in three races in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, according to the organisers. Start and finish are on the Plaza de Canarias.
The Milla Verde, a family mile, starts at 19:30, the 5 km follows at 20:00 and the 10 km at 21:00. The route runs through the port district, Las Canteras, Mesa y López, the Base Naval and the Arsenal.
All the closures the city lists are in the capital. If you drive to Las Palmas in the evening, expect diversions around the port and Las Canteras from 17:00.
Which streets are closed, and when?
Closures begin in stages from 17:00, first on Bernardo de la Torre, Luis Morote, Tomás Miller and at the General Vives junctions. The Ayuntamiento (city council) expects all streets to reopen around 23:00.
From 19:00 to 22:30, Presidente Alvear is shut between Néstor de la Torre and the Base Naval. The same applies to the exit from the Base Naval to the Club Náutico towards León y Castillo.
The roundabout at the Centro Comercial El Muelle is closed from 19:30 to 20:15. The link between the Base Naval and Muelle de Santa Catalina is shut from 19:45 to 20:20.
From 20:00, parts of Presidente Alvear, the General Vives climb and Fernando Guanarteme between León Tolstoi and Olof Palme follow. The city gives no time for Olof Palme, República Dominicana and access to the Torre Las Palmas, including from the GC-1.
Some GC-1 access roads around Alcaravaneras, Base Naval and Real Club Náutico are also affected. All times are guides and may shift with the pace of the race.
Where does the parking ban apply, and what happens to the terraces?
The parking ban applies from 09:00 on Saturday on parts of Tomás Miller (numbers 38 to 70), Mesa y López, Sagasta, Olof Palme and Bernardo de la Torre. The motorbike parking at the corner of Galicia and Ruiz de Alda is also affected.
The SABA car parks at the Plaza de España and near El Corte Inglés are only partly usable from 19:00 to 22:30. If you meant to park there, find another option.
Bars and restaurants must clear their terraces from 17:00 to 23:30 on parts of Luis Morote, Mesa y López, the Paseo de Las Canteras and Olof Palme. Diners will find fewer tables there in the evening than usual.
Are the buses free on 7 November?
Guaguas Municipales (the city buses) run free on all lines on 7 November from 17:00 to 24:00. The offer is for runners and helpers who show their race number when boarding.
The city's announcement includes no free fare for ordinary passengers or spectators. No list of diverted lines was available, so passengers should ask Guaguas Municipales directly.
If you do not yet have your race number, collect it on Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 at the Centro Comercial Siete Palmas. The city has not named any official spectator zones.
How big has the run become?
The Binter NightRun holds its 13th edition in 2026, organised by the Ayuntamiento, the IMD sports institute and the event firm DG Eventos. The airline Binter is the main sponsor, joined by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria (the island government) and Turismo Islas Canarias.
In 2022 the organisers reported a record 4,800 registrations, and a release from the city and Guaguas Municipales gives 6,000 participants for 2025. At 6,700, the run now stands about 40% above the 2022 figure.
Alberto Guanche, Binter's head of sponsorship, says more than 20% of entrants come from outside Gran Canaria. Daniel González, managing director of DG Eventos, says the 25 to 44 age group makes up the largest share.
Mayor Carolina Darias called the run “one of those events that make a city”. According to Javier Prieto of Turismo Islas Canarias, all registration fees go to projects run by various charities.
What is still unclear, and where can I find updates?
The available information gives neither the entry fee nor a registration deadline. It also does not say whether the 6,700 are registered runners or those who actually start.
The city's announcement does not say who pays for the closures, the police operation and the free buses. No figures on the cost of the event are available either.
The Policía Local (local police) publishes current diversions on X at @PoliciaLPA. Residents can reach them on 092 or by email at policia.comunicacion@laspalmasgc.es.
The race only starts in the evening, so results and winners are not yet available. The 10 km runs on a loop course homologated by the Real Federación Española de Atletismo (the Spanish athletics federation).
