Which shows are on at the Teatro Leal on 12 November?
Two improv shows run back to back at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna on Thursday 12 November. The Momento Impro start at 18:00, and Impromadrid follow at 21:00.
The Momento Impro perform “Absurdia”, a long-form piece inspired by absurdist theatre and the poetics of the clown. Dani Blanco, Arturo Cobas and Antón Coucheiro play three characters who try to finish a task they do not understand.
Impromadrid bring “Por la Gracia”, which tells the story of Gracia, according to the organisers. She was born in the early 16th century and is drawn to heroic deeds then reserved for men.
Do you need to speak Spanish?
The shows are in Spanish, and impro lives on the spoken word. If you do not understand Spanish, you may struggle, because the material mentions no subtitles or translations.
“Absurdia” is the likeliest to work for you. Its description points to clowning, quarrels, embraces and quick mood swings among the three characters, but the available information does not say whether that comes across without the language.
What else is in the festival programme?
On Friday 13 November, the Teatro Unión Tejina hosts the Match de Impro, which the organisers call one of the festival’s most anticipated moments. Exhuberancia Carey guides the evening as master of ceremonies, and Ignacio López is the referee.
Two teams of improvisers compete, and suggestions and votes from the audience shape the night. No start time has been given for that evening.
Children draw on both sides of the stage in “Pyjama”, a family show by the group Crache-Texte. The actors improvise alongside them, alternating with the artwork of Paco Roca.
The report gave no date or venue for “Pyjama”. That part of the programme is still open.
Where can you get tickets and find more dates?
Tickets are sold through the platform tickety.es. Prices for 2026 are not confirmed, so check directly with the ticket seller.
The programme continues outside La Laguna, in Tacoronte, El Rosario, Vilaflor de Chasna and San Diego. The organisers say there are impro shows for the public and workshops there, with details on canariasimprovisa.com.
The report did not say which show plays in which town. Workshop dates and registration deadlines are also still open.
Who is behind the festival?
Imprudentes Teatro directs and produces the festival, the organisers say. Backers of the fifth edition include the Dirección General de Innovación Cultural e Industrias Creativas of the Canary Islands government and the Ayuntamiento (town council) of La Laguna.
The first edition ran from 21 to 24 April 2022, and the second from 22 to 25 June 2023 at the Teatro Leal, the Aguere Espacio Cultural and the Colegio Nuryana. The festival now takes place in November and reaches several municipalities.
