What is planned in La Laguna on 3 October?
On Saturday, 3 October 2026, the Feria de Productos Locales opens on Plaza del Cristo in La Laguna. The town hall announced it on Friday, 2 October 2026.
At the entrance area of the Mercado Municipal de La Laguna, practical tasting workshops are on the programme from 10:00 to 13:00. There are also interactive learning sessions in which participants learn to judge a product with their senses.
Activities on sustainability and responsible consumption are planned as well. The fair's motto is «Vivir y sentir el campo canario», roughly «to live and feel the Canarian countryside».
Who organises the fair?
The Asociación de Agricultores y Ganaderos de Canarias, Asaga Canarias for short, organises the fair. The town hall of San Cristóbal de La Laguna takes part through its concejalía de Desarrollo Rural, the rural development department.
Councillor Cristina Ledesma said the fair belongs to an agreement between the town and Asaga Canarias. It provides for measures to strengthen the primary sector throughout the year.
Ledesma said the aim is to promote local products and bring the sector closer to young people, to encourage generational renewal in farming.
Which products are in focus?
The fair is meant to promote the consumption of local products. According to Councillor Ledesma these include fruit, vegetables, garden produce, livestock products, honey and wines.
The town wants to make the effort of local producers visible. Buying close to home, it says, matters for food sovereignty, the landscape, the local economy, gastronomy and the municipality's cultural identity.
The town has not published a list of the participating producers or the number of stalls.
What do visitors need to know?
The town describes the fair as an «espacio dinámico y abierto», a lively and open place for visitors. The announcement names no entry fee, registration or special eligibility rule.
During the morning Asaga Canarias hands out a small, exclusive gift to all visitors. It is meant as thanks for supporting the local farming sector.
The announcement contains no details on parking, road closures or accessibility. Product prices and payment methods are not mentioned either.
Why is the fair held at the Mercado Municipal?
The town proposed to Asaga Canarias that the fair be held around the Mercado Municipal. Councillor Ledesma says this promotes the consumption of local products right at the market.
With the workshops, she says, the aim is to bring the countryside closer to the population in general and to young people in particular.
What is still open?
The town has not published a full list of participating producers, the exact range of goods or any accompanying events.
Details on traffic measures, parking and accessibility are also open. For short-notice changes, the town hall's news page applies, where the announcement appeared on 2 October 2026.
