One note in 28 pages — and it is not the concert's
We downloaded the programme PDF from the town hall's own server and searched it in full. The word "entrada" occurs exactly once: "Entrada libre hasta completar aforo", set beneath 18 September, the election of the Romera and Romero Mayor. Against Orishas there is nothing — nor against the Javier Ruibal Trío on 30 September, "Cartas a Néstor" on 1 October or the 43rd Festival de Bailes Regionales.
The town hall's own release of 17 September, which bills Orishas as the "actuación estelar", mentions neither tickets nor prices, and on 18 September no Agüimes date was on sale at the Tomaticket platform. There is therefore no evidence of a ticket sale — but equally no published statement that the evening is free. The Concejalía de Fiestas answers on 928 78 99 80, extension 271.
Orishas, 2 October: the Noche Joven in the Carpa
Orishas are Cuba's best-known hip-hop group internationally, formed in 1999 and based in France; they blend rap with son and rumba. In 2003 they won the Latin Grammy for best urban music album with "Emigrante".
The programme sets out the Noche Joven as a block: 22:30, Carpa Teatro Auditorio, in the order DJ Vitillo Jr., Orishas, DJ Antonio Boada. When the band itself takes the stage, and whether the marquee is seated, is not printed. The same evening, from 20:30, the Teatro Auditorio hosts the 43rd Festival de Bailes Regionales, with A.F. Coros y Danza de Arrecife travelling over from Lanzarote.
The 49th Traía del Gofio y del Agua — what actually happens
The most distinctive thing in the programme is not a stage but a walk, and it only works as a pair. On 19 September the Subida del Millo goes up from the Plaza del Rosario to the mills of Lolita and Ananías — according to the town hall, a re-enactment of the route families once took to have their grain toasted and milled.
A week later, on 26 September, the Traía is the way back: participants carry the gofio and the water from the mills down into the old town, accompanied by the Banda Isleña. The programme gives 19:00 for the Traía and expressly invites attendees to come in traditional Canarian dress. The verbena follows at 21:30 on the Plaza del Rosario.
Romería, "Espacio Plus" and the Sunday
The 30th Romería y Ofrenda sets off on 3 October at 18:00 from the Piscina Municipal. For that day the programme announces an "Espacio Plus" opposite the portico of the church: adapted for people with reduced mobility, with reserved seating and accessible toilets. How such a place is obtained does not appear in the booklet. The baile de taifas on the Plaza de San Antón and the verbena follow.
On Sunday 4 October, from 10:00, the livestock fair on the Paseo La Viñuela and the stick-fighting championship "Copa Cabildo de Gran Canaria" run in the Carpa; in the afternoon the 30th Encuentro en el Casco fills the streets, with the flower battle at 19:00 and Abubukaka at 20:00.
Getting there, parking — and the bus that is still missing
Agüimes lies about 26 kilometres south of Las Palmas. Global serves it with line 11 (all stops, via Telde and Ingenio, roughly hourly, last departure around 21:50) and with line 21, the semidirecto, whose last return leaves as early as 16:30. From the south, line 34 links Vecindario and El Doctoral with Agüimes. Global does not state a journey time.
Since 7 March 2025 there has been, according to the town hall, a free public car park on the edge of the old town, entrance on Calle El Cardón and exit on Calle La Sabina, next to the Guardia Civil. That the trip is worth it even without a concert is down to the place itself: the Casco Histórico counts as one of the best-preserved old quarters on the island, centred on the neoclassical church of San Sebastián, built between 1796 and 1940 and protected since the Spanish state gazette of 6 June 1981.
