Who receives the grant of up to 60%?

The highest funding of up to 60% applies to owners' associations, as the responsible departmental head Mariano H. Zapata explained in parliament. Private individuals can receive up to 50% of eligible costs. For companies, 30 to 45% apply depending on the measure, and for public administrations up to 100%.

The funding is aimed at owners of residential buildings in the Canary Islands. Joint roof or storage projects by owners' associations are also eligible. The published residential funding does not mention a general automatic entitlement for tenants.

According to the published information, nationality is not a criterion. What matters is the category of the applicant and the project in the Canary Islands. No special rule for tourists or holiday accommodation is mentioned in the available sources.

Which installations are eligible?

Eligible are photovoltaic installations for self-consumption, integrated projects combining efficiency measures and renewable energies, and battery storage. The storage systems make it possible to use part of the electricity generated during the day at night. This reduces the amount of energy drawn from the grid.

A total of 5,075,461.00 euros is earmarked for the residential sector.

The total funding volume of the call is around 18.4 million euros.

How does the application process work?

The application had to be submitted from 09:00 on 25 May 2026. That was the second working day after publication in BOC No. 98 of 22 May 2026. The deadline ended on 22 June 2026.

Private individuals could preferably submit the application online. Those who did not have the technical means could print the form, sign it and hand it in at a state registration assistance office.

The procedures currently displayed on the electronic platform partly concern only the justification or proof of documentation, not new applications. One procedure names 31 December 2026 as the end for supporting documents.

What does this mean for owners and holiday properties?

Owners can receive funding up to the stated upper limit of eligible costs. The own contribution, non-eligible costs and the specific funding amount depend on the approved project. Interested parties should check the specific call before signing a contract.

For owners' associations, the joint application is particularly worthwhile. They can receive up to 60% and implement joint roof or storage projects. This also makes self-consumption possible for residents of multi-family buildings without their own roof space.

For holiday properties, the published information does not name a separate funding line. The residential funding is linked to the category of the applicant and the project, not to Spanish nationality. Express funding for viviendas vacacionales is not mentioned in the sources.

How is solar expansion developing in the Canary Islands?

According to data from the Canary Islands government from June 2026, there were installations for photovoltaic self-consumption in the archipelago.

More than 24,000 installations are located on roofs and terraces, as Mariano H. Zapata emphasised.

What remains open?

The sources do not name an individual maximum amount per photovoltaic installation. A binding approval period is also not published. A complete list of technical requirements is also missing.

It remains unclear whether new applications are still possible after 22 June 2026. For already approved projects, the timely submission of supporting documents remains decisive. One procedure names 31 December 2026 as the end for supporting documents.

According to Mariano H. Zapata, the government wants to further increase the number of households with self-consumption. To this end, information and support on available aid are to be expanded. The Consejería did not name a new application date by Friday.
