Will the fiesta take place on 6 December 2026?

By Friday 6 November, the Ayuntamiento (town council) of San Sebastián de La Gomera has published no programme for 2026. The date of 6 December comes from last year, when the fiesta fell on a Saturday.

6 December 2026 is a Sunday, so the weekday of 2025 no longer fits. Whether the fiesta, its time and its venue stay the same is open.

The council presented the full 2025 overview on 2 December, a few days before the fiesta. No publication date for 2026 is known.

Anyone who wants to plan the evening should ask the Ayuntamiento. Its website and social media channels are another place to look.

What did the fiesta offer on 6 December 2025?

On Saturday 6 December 2025, the Ayuntamiento invited people to the Fiesta Navideña at 22:00 on the Plaza de Las Américas. DJ Renzo and the group Amanecer de La Gomera took the stage.

The Plaza de Las Américas is in the town centre of San Sebastián de La Gomera. No timetables, parking advice or official guidance from the authorities on the event were found.

The programme gives no entry details. Nothing proves the fiesta was free, so we quote no prices.

How did the 2025 lights switch-on go?

On Friday 28 November 2025, the council switched on the Christmas lights in two places. At 17:30, Luis Tevez sang the municipal song La Estrella que Silba Tu Camino on the Plaza de San Juanito in Tecina, joined by the Grupo Ereces.

The lights of the Comarca Sur came on next. From 20:00 the main programme followed on the Plaza de Las Américas.

It included the family play Buscando a Brilla, the Banda de la Escuela de Música and the Grupo Gomer Dance. The postcard competition prizes and the switch-on ceremony came last.

Before the ceremony, a Christmas train ran, along with living statues and a parade. Volcanic Xperience – Dinamiza Rural del Gobierno de Canarias offered chestnuts and wines from La Gomera, with music by Candelaria González.

Which markets and campaigns were part of it?

The Mercado Tradicional Navideño (traditional Christmas market) opened on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 November 2025, from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 16:00 to 24:00. On Sunday 30 November it was open from 10:00 to 13:30.

Ten stalls were announced, among them Proanimal Gomera, the Floristería Jardín Colombino and the association Asociación Diversidad Funcional La Gomera. Workshops and music were also on offer.

About 50 businesses took part in the Gran Escaparate de la Navidad, the second edition of the shopping campaign. Customers of the taking-part shops from 28 November to 5 January received tickets for three prizes.

The draw took place on Wednesday 7 January on the Plaza de Las Américas. The big shop window stood in Calle El Baluarte, visible through the windows of the Audillón Municipal, and the council donated a trip for two to Lanzarote.

What else was on during Advent and Christmas?

According to the council, the Brilla San Sebastián programme in 2025/26 had more than forty events. Children's activities were held in Tecina, Las Galanas, La Laja, La Lomada, La Gallarda and El Atajo.

On 12 December 2025 at 20:00, the XX Gospel Canarias Festival played at the Auditorio Insular. A day later, on 13 December at 21:00, the XXIX Festival Navideño Hautacuperche followed on the Plaza de la Asunción.

The Cross Popular de Navidad (28th edition) took place on 19 December, and the Travesía a Nado (swim) on 27 December. The Belén Viviente (living nativity) by Minela Teatro passed through the historic centre on 22 December at 19:30.

On 31 December the bells rang at the town hall, followed by the Gran Baile on the Plaza de Las Américas. The Cabalgata de Reyes (Three Kings parade) set off from the same square on 5 January 2026 at 17:00.

What do the lights cost, and what happens next?

For one lot, the results notice 799675-2025 gives an amount of 332,450 euros. Whether IVA (value added tax) is included is unconfirmed.

The contractor and the award sum were not found, nor was a total budget for the fiesta programme. For 2026 no start date for the lights is known, nor a day for the Cross Popular, whose 29th edition is due in December 2026.

For comparison, in 2025 Arrecife switched on its lights on 21 November and Puerto del Rosario on 28 November. San Sebastián's big fiestas fall elsewhere in the year, with the Fiestas Patronales running from 8 to 20 January.
