What is being allocated in Playa Blanca?
ICAVI is looking for new tenants for 42 terraced houses in the Urbanización Montaña Roja. The homes are in Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza on Lanzarote.
According to ICAVI, each home offers 90 square metres of usable floor space and a 20 square metre garage. Nothing is being sold; the homes are rented as publicly subsidised housing.
The process appeared in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) No. 213 on 23 October 2026.
The homes must serve as an ordinary and permanent main residence. Use as a second home or holiday let is not allowed.
Who can apply?
Anyone wishing to take part must be listed in the Registro Público de Demandantes de Vivienda Protegida de Canarias on the final day of the deadline. This is the official register for housing applicants in the Canary Islands.
ICAVI also requires at least twelve uninterrupted years of residence in the Canary Islands. Anyone who has lived elsewhere in between needs 15 years.
In the five years before publication, applicants must have lived or worked continuously in Yaiza. The income and asset limits must also be met.
Anyone who already owns another home is generally excluded. Applicants must also demonstrate a recognised housing need.
The same requirements apply to foreign residents. A holiday residence or tourist interest is not enough.
How does the allocation work?
The homes are assigned to applicants in seven quotas, under Decreto 23/2026 of 9 March. ICAVI assesses social, economic, family and personal circumstances.
23 homes, or 55 percent, are reserved for special groups. These include people with reduced mobility, people under 35, people over 65 and victims of gender-based violence.
19 homes, or 45 percent, go to the general quota. If special homes remain unoccupied, they can be added to the general quota.
Homes adapted for people with severe mobility restrictions are excluded. These remain reserved for wheelchair users.
How do you submit an application?
You submit the application through electronic procedure 10175 of the Government of the Canary Islands. Alternatively, the routes under Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015 are available.
The window runs from 26 October to 16 November 2026 inclusive. The final day is a Monday, and the deadline is 15 working days from the day after publication in the BOC.
Even those already registered must renew their entry for this call. The documents are available on the website of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ayuntamiento de Yaiza, the municipal council.
What is still open?
None of the published sources gives the specific monthly rents in euros. The final list of admitted and excluded applicants is also still pending.
Point scores, the assignment to individual homes and the date of the key handover have also not been published yet. ICAVI had not given a fixed date for the lists by Friday.
Next, ICAVI will check the applications and draw up provisional admission lists. Lists by quota and points and a provisional allocation proposal will follow.
After hearing applicants, ICAVI will make the final decision. The municipality of Yaiza does not decide on the winners.
