When and where is the bands meeting?
Tinajo hosts the 3rd Lanzarote Bands Meeting on Saturday 7 November 2026 at 19:00, in the Salón Social (the community hall). It is the third edition, but it is not known when the first two took place.
The announcement names no ticket price. It is also silent on parking, bus links and the running order.
The Asociación Cultural Músicos del Volcán, a society that promotes music on Lanzarote, organises the evening. Anyone coming from the south of the island should ask it, or the town halls of Tinajo and Yaiza, before setting off.
Which bands play in Tinajo?
Four Lanzarote bands play, each from a different municipality: ACUME from San Bartolomé, the Peña de San Roque from Tinajo, Teguiband from Teguise and the Yaiza Band. The Banda Municipal de Pájara from Fuerteventura joins them as a guest.
That makes the evening a meeting that reaches beyond the island's shores. The Ayuntamientos (town halls) of Yaiza and Tinajo support the event, but the announcement said nothing about costs or funding.
The organisers want to show off the bands' work and get their members talking to each other. According to the announcement, these ensembles play a key part in Canarian musical education and in the cultural life of the towns.
What is the Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote?
The 16th Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote runs from 19 to 29 November 2026, as the Muestra's website confirms. The 19th is a Thursday and the 29th a Sunday.
It is a film showcase with a competition, not the Festival Internacional de Cine de Lanzarote. That short-film festival already took place in Arrecife from 11 to 23 May 2026, with its gala on 23 May at the Teatro El Salinero.
The non-profit Asociación Tenique Cultural, led by Javier Fuentes Feo, organises the showcase. Its aim is to show independent cinema and put it up for discussion.
According to the organisers, backers are the Cabildo de Lanzarote (the island government), the Gobierno de Canarias, Spain's film institute ICAA, the Canarian cultural institute ICDC and the Lanzarote Film Commission. The budget is not known.
The 15th edition ran from 20 to 30 November 2025 and took water as its theme. Visitor and ticket figures for 2025 are not available, so there is no trend to read.
Which films are competing for the prizes?
The organisers report 247 entries for 2026: 215 for the Official Section and 32 for the Encrucijada (Crossroads) strand. Filmmakers could submit from 4 May until 23:59 on 31 August 2026, and there was no fee.
Between six and eight titles compete in the Official Section, which shows feature films of at least 40 minutes made since 1 January 2025. The prize for best film is 6,500 euros.
Encrucijada is for Canarian filmmakers and their short films. Five to seven films will be selected, and the prize for best Canarian short is 1,200 euros.
An international jury decides, and the Muestra says its deliberations are open to the public. A stricter entry system applies this year, so that submitted films fit the programme.
What is still unclear, and where can you get information?
On Thursday 5 November, the organisers had still not published venues, screening times or ticket prices for the Muestra. Travel advice, the names of the jury and the list of selected films are missing too.
The Muestra's production team can be reached at produccion@muestradecinedelanzarote.com. Anyone interested should check there and at muestradecinedelanzarote.com for the programme and prices before 19 November.
The bands meeting on 7 November rests on the organisers' announcement alone, with no confirmation from the Cabildo or the town halls. Anyone planning an evening trip to Tinajo should check the entry price and the journey beforehand.
