When and where is the photo fiesta in Arrecife?

The festival ends on Saturday 14 November with the Fiesta de la Fotografía on the Plaza de El Almacén in Arrecife. It runs from 10:00 to 20:00 and is the final day of the 11th Veintinueve Trece, which starts on 9 November.

The festival motto is PARAR, roughly “stop” in English. The cultural association Veintinueve Trece organises it and publishes the programme on its festival website.

Saturday offers more than the plaza. Workshops run from 09:00 to 13:00 at the Centro Cívico de Arrecife (the civic centre), and at 14:00 the Enyesque collective hosts a shared lunch at the Sociedad La Democracia.

At 18:00 the photography collective Carretera Vieja speaks on the Plaza de El Almacén. At 19:00 “Miradas Colectivas” and the closing follow there.

What does it cost, and do you need to register?

The organiser does not say whether the Fiesta costs anything or needs registration, either in the programme or under “Entradas” (tickets). The festival website says only that activities are free but have limited places.

The organiser has not explicitly confirmed free entry to the Fiesta. That leaves the question open.

The talks on 12 and 13 November, with five speakers, cost €20. The colour-correction workshop with David Castañón costs €70, or €35 for concessions.

It runs from 12 to 14 November, each day from 09:00 to 13:00. The price includes the talks on Thursday and Friday.

Unemployed people, students and pensioners pay half for workshops. A sign-language interpreter is available free on request when you buy a ticket.

The shared lunch on 14 November costs €15 and is booked through the festival’s Shopify shop. For the workshop by Alessandra Sanguinetti and Jim Goldberg on 12 and 13 November (09:00 to 13:00, Centro Cívico), no source gives a price or booking link.

What is on in the days before the fiesta?

Raquel Martínez Buján opens the festival on Monday 9 November at 19:00 in El Almacén with “¿Quién puede parar?”. Entry costs €0, and reservations go through Eventbrite.

On Tuesday 10 November, El Almacén screens the film Disturbios on 35 millimetre at 19:00, and the anthropologist Manuel Delgado then debates with the audience. Entry is free, but advance registration is required.

Talks follow in El Almacén on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November at 18:00, 19:00 and 20:00. The speakers listed are Marina Speer, Rafael Arocha, Anna Surinyach, Silvana Trevale and Alessandra Sanguinetti.

The festival website contradicts itself on the speakers. Its home page still lists Noah Pharrell and Rafal Milach for 12 and 13 November, while the programme names Surinyach and Trevale.

How do visitors from the south get to Arrecife?

None of the sources checked gives a street address for El Almacén or the plaza. The organiser has also published nothing on buses, parking or directions.

The association’s office is at Plaza de la Constitución Nº5, 2º Izq, 35500 Arrecife. The source gives it as the association’s address, not the venue.

In 2025 Arrecife offered a free bus to the “Traveling Cinema”, a separate programme. Whether a similar service runs on the festival dates is not confirmed.

According to the festival website, places are limited. Anyone wanting to attend the opening, the film, the talks or the lunch should reserve or book in advance and sort out their own travel.

How big is the festival, and who funds it?

According to its closing report, the tenth edition, from 10 to 15 November 2025, drew more than 600 participants to the daytime activities. Just over 1,000 people came to the Saturday party, and around 40% of visitors travelled from outside Lanzarote.

La Voz de Lanzarote reports that the cultural association Asociación Cultural Veintinueve Trece has run the festival since 2016 as a meeting for photography and visual art. According to the paper, the name refers to Lanzarote’s coordinates, 29 degrees north and 13 degrees west.

In 2025 the festival was supported by the Cabildo de Lanzarote (the island government), the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Arrecife’s culture department and SPEL Turismo Lanzarote. No funding list for 2026 is known yet, and no source gives budget figures.

What is known about the session with Lucía Aleñar on 2 December?

No source exists so far for a session with Lucía Aleñar on 2 December at the Cine Buñuel. Neither a search for the director nor one for the series turned up a date.

The Cine Buñuel is the cinema in El Almacén in Arrecife. A screening in June 2026 cost €3.

Tickets were sold through the official website. Whether that applies in December is open.

Aleñar Iglesias is a director and screenwriter. Her short film Forastera screened at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes in 2020, but that does not prove an appearance in Arrecife.

The time, film, entry price and format of the session are unknown. Participant numbers for 2026 will come only after the festival ends on 14 November.
