What does the Night Run mean for visitors and residents?
The city council (Ayuntamiento) of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is rearranging traffic on Saturday 7 November 2026. Roads around the port, Las Canteras and Mesa y López are affected, with closures starting at 17:00.
The city's list names only streets in Las Palmas. Anyone living or holidaying in the south of the island will notice nothing unless they plan an evening in the capital on Saturday.
Drivers coming from the south should keep an eye on the GC-1. According to the Ayuntamiento, access to the Torre Las Palmas is closed, including the southern approach from the GC-1 to the Alcaravaneras junction heading north, as are exits from the GC-1 in the north-to-south direction.
The race is also an evening out for spectators. Start and finish are at Plaza de Canarias, and the races run through the port, Las Canteras, Mesa y López, the naval base (Base Naval) and the Arsenal.
Which roads are closed, and when?
From 17:00, Bernardo de la Torre between Nicolás Estévanez and Luis Morote closes first, along with Luis Morote between Bernardo de la Torre and Eduardo Benot. Tomás Miller between Luis Morote and Mesa y López follows, as do the junctions of General Vives with Nicolás Estévanez and Luis Morote.
Also shut are Juan Manuel Durán González between León Tolstoi and Néstor de la Torre, Olof Palme and República Dominicana. Avenida Mesa y López at its junction with Olof Palme is closed too, as is Calle Galicia from Néstor de la Torre towards Mesa y López.
From 19:00 to 22:30, Calle Presidente Alvear between Néstor de la Torre and the Base Naval is added. The link between the Base Naval and the Club Náutico exit towards León y Castillo is closed for the same period.
Some closures are brief. The Ayuntamiento says the road layout at the El Muelle shopping centre is shut from 19:30 to 20:15, and the link between the Base Naval and Muelle de Santa Catalina from 19:45 to 20:20.
Where is parking banned, and what about the car parks?
The parking ban starts at 09:00 on Saturday and covers six sections. They include Calle Tomás Miller between numbers 38 and 70, the motorbike bay at the junction of Galicia and Ruiz de Alda, and Avenida Mesa y López between Olof Palme and Plaza de España.
Also affected are Calle Sagasta between Gomera and Luis Morote, Olof Palme from Paseo de Las Canteras to Mesa y López, and Bernardo de la Torre between Luis Morote and Nicolás Estévanez. Anyone parked there should move the car before 09:00.
Access to the SABA car parks at Plaza de España and El Corte Inglés is restricted from 19:00 to 22:30. In practice, drive in or out before 19:00, or wait until 22:30.
The local police (Policía Local) will mark diversions with signs and officers. The city posts current updates on X at @PoliciaLPA.
What applies to restaurants and bars along the route?
Businesses on four streets must take down their terraces and tables between 17:00 and 23:30. According to the Ayuntamiento, this covers Calle Luis Morote (numbers 2 to 44), Avenida José Mesa y López (numbers 54 to 1), Paseo de Las Canteras (numbers 6 to 70) and Calle Olof Palme (numbers 1 to 38).
Anyone planning dinner on these stretches on Saturday evening should expect no outdoor tables. The city has not said whether individual venues will adjust their opening.
What is known about the route and the runners?
This is the 13th edition of the Binter Night Run in Las Palmas. Josué Íñiguez, councillor for security, community life and culture, and Carla Campoamor, councillor for sport, led the security coordination.
Last year the 12th edition ran on 1 November 2025 with the same start-time structure. According to the municipal bus company Guaguas Municipales, 6,000 runners took part then, and the full closure began at 18:00 rather than 17:00 as now.
Registration sites put the Milla Verde at roughly 1.6 to 1.7 kilometres, but the city has published no official figure. The same sites describe the 10km course as certified by the Spanish athletics federation RFEA, and the streets will be lit in green.
What is still unknown?
Entry fees, the registration deadline and the number of runners for 2026 have not been published. The city has also not said whether regular buses (guaguas) will be diverted.
Reports on the 2022 edition said runners rode the municipal buses free of charge in earlier years. Whether that applies again in 2026 has not been confirmed.
The Ayuntamiento stresses that times and closures are approximate and may change before and during the race.
